January Favourites 2017

Image
In this January Favourites post I have some products that were not new to me in the month of January but because it's the first time blogging on faves for a very long time, I thought I'd share. Just a handful of products, but I'm loving them (obviously, lol) ColourPop Ultra Satin in Femme- I recently reviewed the Ultra Satins and I really love this formula. If interested you can check out my review here . Out of the shades I ordered, Femme was the most unique. Sunsense Sensitive Invisible SPF 50+- This sunscreen is fantastic. It is my new favourite. It's a physical SPF that is not greasy and does not cause a white cast like many physical sunscreens I have tried in the past. I will have a review of this SPF next week. Poni White Knight Mascara- I was lucky to have been given this product to trial. It is a tubing mascara that provides length and volume without smudging or flaking. I have not used another mascara since receiving this one!  ...

The Chemistry Brand Retin-Oil

Image
I like to incorporate a product that contains Vitamin A or form of retinoid in my skincare routine. I find it to be an effective antiaging ingredient, depending on the strength of course. I came across a blog where the founder of Deciem, Brandon Truaxe had commented in Q and A style that a great retinoid product is the Chemistry Brand Body Retin-Oil. He said that it is suitable to use on the face as well as the body. First chance I got, I purchased a bottle from Priceline when there was a 40% off skincare sale. Taken from Priceline - "Introducing Chemistry's most effective retinoid compound without a need for a prescription. Chemistry's Retin-Oil Complex is a multi-vitamin dry body oil, which targets scars, stretch marks, aging dehydrated skin, surface irregularities and discolouration. The super dry oil formula helps skin look smoother and visibly reduces pore size and wrinkles without causing irritation. This innovative complex also includes Vitamin C to help improve...

ColourPop Ultra Metallic Lipsticks

Image
In 2016 Metallic lipsticks seemed to be a huge trend. I wanted to try some for myself, but was wary as to how they would translate on older lips. I wasn't wanting to go for metallic butt-hole lips, lol. Sorry for the mental image that may have created! I decided that I would try the ColourPop Ultra Metallics to see how a metallic finish would look on my lips. If I didn't like the result, I haven't spent too much to be upset about. Taken from ColourPop- "A super intense metalized liquid lipstick that is dripping with high impact metallic pearls. This non-drying was created to be, luxurious, smooth and leave a super comfortable feel on the lips. While the formula is not completely transfer resistant, it is extremely long wearing." These are very much like the Ultra Satins in consistency, feel on the lips and long wear time. Check out my review here . I must say that I love the metallic finish. Now onto some lip swatches :)  Mug Shot   ...

January Empties 2017

Image
After not doing an empties post for so long, I had to get back into the somewhat weird habit of keeping my empty products. Hence why I neglected the December installment, oops! I was able to finish a handy bundle of products, mostly skincare, of course. Skinn Wrinkle Soak- This mask is very hydrating. It smells divine, a sweet watermelon fragrance. It is also cooling on the skin which is nice in this warm weather. Repurchase? It's a nice mask. I would be happy to use it again, but I don't feel the need to seek this mask out. Garnier BB Cream for Combination to Oily Skin - I love how convenient BB Creams are. I like the evening of skintone I can achieve, giving me a hint of coverage whilst providing a radiant finish. The Garnier BB Cream for Combo skin is a fave of mine because it isn't too thick like some I have used and provides a decent amount of coverage for a BB Cream. Repurchase? This is my 3rd tube and I will be sure to buy again. Skinn Exfol...

L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation

Image
Being a makeup hoarder collector, it was actually a nice feeling to be buying a foundation because I needed it, not just wanted it. On my wishlist for quite some time was the much talked about L'Oreal Infallible Matte foundation. Yes, I know I'm late to the party, lol. Taken from Priceline - "Infallible Matte is an easy to spread, lightweight, liquid emulsion that is never dull and never cakey. Infallible Matte resists sweat, stress, heat and humidity with no shine and no mask effect." The foundation comes in a 35 ml plastic squeeze tube. A screw top lid covers a small hole dispenser. This product is a liquid foundation but is on the thicker side. It has a scent that I can only describe as that typical makeup smell, it's quite light so I don't really notice it to be honest. I have applied the foundation with a brush, sponge and my fingers. Each method works equally well. It is smooth and easy to apply and blend. I get a medium coverage ...

ColourPop Ultra Satin Lipsticks

Image
I have been a huge fan of ColourPop for some time now. Affordable products that in my opinion are worth more than the price tag. The only downside has been the cost of International shipping. Story of my online shopaholic life! Fortunately the last couple of months of 2016, ColourPop offered free shipping with minimum spend to us International customers. It was perfect timing for my end of year splurge. I only purchased lip products this time around, a mix of Ultra Metallics and Ultra Satins. This post I will be showing you the Ultra Satins. Taken from ColourPop - "A lightweight, comfortable, bold lipstick, with a Satin finish. This lipstick is extremely long wearing, although not completely kiss proof- you may leave some marks on your coffee cup!" Typical liquid lipstick tube packaging with a doe foot applicator. The lipstick has a mousse like consistency, quite different to the liquid consistency of the Ultra Mattes. The Ultra Satins feel very comfortable on...

Project Pan 2017 Intro

Image
Instead of choosing a multitude of beauty items to finish in 2017, I decided that what would work best for me would be a rolling 5 pan. So how this works, is that I have 5 products in my project that I am attempting to finish. Once I finish a product I'll replace it with another and keep a tally of products used in this project for the year. Let me show you the first 5 products ColourPop Cornelius eye shadow is matte, so I've been able to get a lot of use of this shade by using in my crease. Makes a nice all over the lid colour, too. During 2016 I was doing a rolling 5 pan project on my Instagram ( @indie_ana1 ) and this Mirenesse lipstick was one that I had been trying to finish. It is never-ending  lol, but I am determined to finish it! W7 Catwalk Concealer is a product that I use on a daily basis to colour correct underneath my eye area.  This Smashbox Lip Pencil is a neutral colour, so I can get a lot of use out of it. It's a nic...
