Makeup Mess 2019 #2

Image
I really wanted to try one of my Dawn Eyes Cosmetics Premium loose eye shadows. They are multi-chrome, beautiful and needed to be applied to my lids. So, I took the opportunity to also create a Makeup Mess post. If you read my first Makeup Mess, you'll notice some of the same products, but I did change some things up. I'll begin with eye products. Elf Mad About Matte Eye Shadow Palette- I used 2 of these shadows in my crease, they make fantastic transition shades. Suva Beauty Block Party Eye Shadow Palette- I blended the navy blue shade into my outer "v". It is very pigmented, yet surprisingly blends easily, without being patchy.                                  Dawn Eyes Cosmetics Premium Eye Shadow in - I applied the star of the show on my lid over a sticky base. It is stunning, shifting from bronze to green to purple.  It's so hard to capture on camera, so take my wo...

Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter

Image
I don't think the highlighting trend will be going away in a hurry and quite frankly, I don't want it to. I enjoy a subtle highlight on my cheekbones, so I don't need to use a lot of product for each application, therefore I try not to buy every highlighter that appeals to me. I have a few and I probably wouldn't need to buy another one for years. Of course, with all the releases, it's hard not to be tempted. This was the case with the Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter. Not only did it look good, reviews I read had me needing it in my stash! Taken from Maybelline - "Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter delivers the look of a melted metallic highlight in an easy to apply highlighting powder. Features reflective pigments for an eye-catching chrome effect." The highlighter comes in a round, plastic compact with a clear lid. I like that you can see the product without opening. The highlighter powder has a funky textured square design. I couldn...

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick

Image
I was pretty excited when I was invited by Beauty Heaven to trial the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink liquid lipstick. I had heard the buzz over these new liquid lipsticks and couldn't wait to put one to the test. Taken from Maybelline - "Ink your lips in up to 16 hour saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Ink features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in 10 super saturated shades." The liquid lipstick comes in a squared plastic tube. The tube is the shade of the lipstick and it comes complete with a contrasting glossy white lid. The Matte Ink has a creamy consistency and smells so delicious having a gourmand vanilla frosting scent. The applicator of this lipstick is a sponge one, but it has a unique shape. The tip is a tear drop with a tiny well in the center. The pointed end of the sponge is great for precise application, whereas in the middle where you want the most amount of lipstick for the lips. I received the shade P...

Beauty Favourites of 2017

Image
The reason I didn't write a monthly Beauty Favourites post in 2017 was because I spent much of it trying to finish set products in my project pans. I see the value in panning, but it meant that I didn't try many new products. I do have a handful of faves that although not new in 2017 were new to me, so I thought I would rave about them to you. Skin79 Water Wrapping Sunscreen - This is the best physical sunscreen I have used, ever . It is so easy to apply. There is no greasiness and no white cast, once absorbed, my skin is dry to the touch. I love that it's not thick and doesn't feel like I'm wearing a mask, yet it is hydrating. It's amazing, unfortunately it can be difficult to find. Australis Fresh and Flawless Powder- I am always late to the party, but last year (that is so weird to say!) I fell in love with this powder. It is so soft and creamy. Gives me that airbrushed look without being cakey. This finishing powder sets my foundation and ...

September Empties

Image
I was so happy that with September the weather would warm up because it meant the arrival of Spring. Nope, didn't really happen where I live, hopefully with October I will see more sunshine! Oh, and of course with a new month it means I get to show you the products I finished. Just a handful of products, really, but I'll quickly run through each item with you. Sunsense Sensitive Invisible 50+ Sunscreen - This sunscreen being zinc based is a physical sunscreen. Thankfully, it isn't a thick product and doesn't give the skin an unwanted white cast like so many often do.  Repurchase? I will repurchase this sunscreen. It has a  high SPF rating, something that is very important here in Australia, plus I  find it works well as a primer under my foundation.  It's Skin Power 10 Formula WH Effector - A light weight serum that is targeted towards those wanting a more even skintone. Repurchase? I liked how light the formula is and how quickly it is absorbed ...

In my latest Project Pan update I was able to finish 3 products. Because I had to add some other products, I thought I would show you a makeup look using Project Pan and Pan That Palette items. Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint

Image
I was fortunate enough to be selected to trial the Maybelline Tattoo Brow Gel Tint thanks to the generous team at Beauty Heaven . I have seen the Korean versions of this product and was very interested to see how well they perform. Taken from Maybelline Australia - "Get brows that wow with Maybelline's Brow Tattoo. Draw it, tint it, peel it, that's it!" The brow gel is packaged in a small 5 ml tube. It has a screw top lid with brush tipped wand for application. The scent of this product reminds me of a typical mascara smell. A little chemical, but not at all overpowering, I actually only noticed it when I consciously gave the tube a sniff. It has a thick gel consistency. I found the fine brush a great size for applying the product. I simply brushed it on following the shape of my brow. I took my time, but did not feel the need to be slow to be precise as I found the consistency to be perfect. There was no need to worry about product caking on the bro...

Makeup Look Wearing Project Pan 2017 Products #1

Image
I have been showing you progress of my Project Pan and Pan That Palette and it occurred to me that I should show you a makeup look using the products. Models Prefer Infinite Colour Foundation- I bought this months ago, it was 50% off, so figured why not. It's too light on my skin. I find it can get a little streaky when applying with a brush but does apply well with a sponge. It's a nice medium coverage foundation, not bad, but doesn't wow me. Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold- I love these cream shadows, especially when using as a base for powder eye shadows. The gold colour has been working well with the olive and brown tones I have been using on my lid. LA Girl Endless Liner in Black- I love that this liner is retractable and is nice and black. What I don't like is it seems to be a drier formula, so it takes some work to apply. I'll be glad when I'm finished this liner. Smashbox Lip Liner in Smashing Define- I have enjoyed using this neutral to...

Project Pan 2017 Update #3

Image
It's time once again for me to show you the progress on my rolling Project Pan. Annoyingly, I forgot to take a photo of the 5 products that I was panning in the last update, but I will show you the single photos of the products. The MBA lipstick sample in OCD I had to part ways with. Unfortunately it started smelling funky, so that and the rest of the samples have to go. It makes me realise just how much I need to be more mindful of what I buy and whether I am realistically going to use it, especially cream based makeup items. I was able to finish the W7 Cosmetics Catwalk Concealer.  I love to see pan! I believe I will be finished the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold by the next update. For such an easy to use neutral lip pencil, it certainly is taking me a while to get through. Maybe I should sharpen it more ;) I seem to have made the best progress of this LA Girl liner in the past 2 months. I have been occasionally been using as ...
