May Empties

As we say hello to June, I thought I'd share my May empties with you.

Here's my strangely satisfying basket of empty products, so yes, rubbish!

NS-8 Heel Balm Complex- A lotion for dry, cracked heels that acted as nourishing as a balm. My favourite way of using this product was to slather my feet at bedtime and cover with socks overnight. The result being super smooth feet.
Repurchase? Yes, I would love to get my hands on some more of this!

Skinn PM Cleanser- I finished 2 of these cleansers, 1 being full size, the other a travel size. A creamy cleanser that I used day and night because I no longer want to use gel cleansers.
Repurchase? I still have another to use.

Skinn Hydro-Vital Cream- A rich moisturiser that can be used day and night. Targeted for dry skin. Nice product, but I hate the packaging. I much prefer airless, or even a pump so I'm not dipping my fingers into the product.
Repurchase? A fantastic moisturiser to hydrate the skin, but I don't feel that I need it.

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 1% and Multi-Molecular Hyaluronic Complex- These 2 products work together to make the skin healthy, rather than targeting specific concerns. This in turn promotes anti-aging benefits.
Repurchase? For sure. I have a few serums to finish first, but I need both of these products in my life!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Cornelius- A matte shadow that I almost finished before it became to dry to use. I applied it almost daily as a transition colour in my crease.
Repurchase? Nice shade, but I can easily dupe the colour from the eye shadows that I already own. In most cases, when I finish an eye shadow, I'm usually over it and don't feel the need to buy again.

W7 Catwalk Concealer- This product was too yellow for me to use as a concealer, but worked well to colour correct under eye circles.
Repurchase? Most likely in future when I need another colour corrector, can't beat the low price!

Lanolips Lemonaid- This lip balm in a squeeze tube acts to moisturise lips while gently exfoliating them. Because it was on the thicker side, I used it at night.
Repurchase? I really don't need a lip balm at the moment, but I would buy it again.

RawSkinCeuticals BB Cream- This is a natural product that unfortunately I'm decluttering because it no longer smells right and the consistency has changed. It was too dark for me (online blind buy) and I only used a little to darken a foundation that was too light.
Repurchase? Probably not, I didn't love it.

Rimmel Black Gel Liner- I am decluttering this because it has dried out. I am annoyed with myself because I had not even used it. Serves me right for leaving the liner to collect dust.
Repurchase? I'm not sure, I need to use up some other liners first. Best not to stockpile items that have a shelf life! lol

Poni Cosmetics Pegasus Liner- Now having to bin this product almost makes me cry! I love the liner, it has plenty of product left, so why am I throwing it out you ask? Because when I was giving the tip a quick wipe to remove eye shadow the tip fell out! Ugh! I did try to put it back in, but that just wasn't happening. You can imagine the mess I made during that process!
Repurchase? Yes, it's a really nice liquid eye liner.

Skin Republic Collagen Infusion Sheet Mask

I have heard so many great things about the Skincare Republic sheet masks, so I finally got my hands on one to try. I ordered the Collagen Infusion through Beauty Heaven's generous rewards system where I was able to swap earned points for products on offer during Beautorium events. You can read more about the rewards program here.

Taken from Skincare Republic- "Moisture boosting marine collagen, elastin and vitamin E rejuvenate and revitalise the skin's elasticity tone and firmness. Promoting healthy skin and minimising the appearance of deep wrinkles and fine lines, helping your skin look younger and glow with vitality."

The sheet mask is packaged in a foil packet that simply needs to be torn open. I did detect a fragrance, but it was very subtle.

The sheet mask fit to my face well, having the typical holes for eyes, nose and mouth. I like that it was drenched in the serum, but not to the point of being too slippery to not only place on the face, but it stayed put.

I felt comfortable leaving the mask on for around 30 minutes. It was nice to pamper myself without needing to remove product. When I took off the face mask, I used the sheet to massage my hands and also my neck and decolletage, making sure not to waste any of the serum.

My skin felt tacky for a little amount of time, but it didn't take long to fully absorb. My face felt so lovely and hydrated that I did not feel the need to apply any of my regular serums, just my night cream.

Not only hydrated, but my skin felt soft and plump and looked more radiant. Even the next morning before my usual skincare routine, my skin looked refreshed and the fine lines were less visible.

I need to use the Collagen Infusion Sheet Mask again so am now going to take a further look on the Skincare Republic website to order this sheet mask and of course some others on offer!

...and now for the obligatory photo of me wearing the scary sheet mask

Are you a fan of sheet masks?

Makeup Revolution Light and Shade Palette

I had held off reviewing the Makeup Revolution Light and Shade eye shadow palette because of the controversy around this dupe. I can understand KvD being upset about the palette being an obvious rip-off of her Shade and Light palette. But, as a stay-at-home mum who has to watch what she spends, I do love myself a dupe.

Taken from TAM Beauty- "The eye shadow palette you NEED in your life! Everything you need for every day neutral eye shadow looks. Highly pigmented, smooth and blendable matte shades ranging from cool tones to warm tones, and the perfect shades to contour and define your eye shape."

I love that the palette is split up into 3, placing the same toned shades together. Beginning with a section of neutral, then cool and warm. This palette for someone like me that enjoys playing with colour, is the perfect companion palette. I can match the tones of my eye contour depending on the lid colour I choose.

The matte shades are a little powdery, which I've come to expect with Makeup Revolution mattes. They kick up a little when placing a brush in the pans. However, they are really smooth and blend beautifully, which is important when eye contouring. I don't find that the shades become patchy when blending out in the crease.

I enjoyed using this palette and can see myself reaching for it a lot.

Now onto some swatches.

For the purpose of testing out this palette, I created looks only using this palette. 3 different looks representing each swatch photo.

Look 1

Look 2

Look 3

Wow, 3 neutral matte looks. So different to my normal eye makeup, especially the matte part!

I will be linking this post to Ingrid's beauty blog link up Monday Makeup Madness :)

Julien Farel Anti-Aging Haircare- Vitamin Restore

Julien Farel is one of the top hairstylists in the world with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He decided to incorporate his knowledge of hair, combined with the concept of anti-aging skincare into a haircare range.

I must admit that haircare does not usually excite me, but the idea of products with anti-aging ingredients designed for the scalp and hair is exciting!

Today I wanted to show you the Vitamin Restore. This is no ordinary 2-in-1 product. It is an anti-aging hair treatment that cleanses and conditions the hair and scalp in one easy step.

The treatment contains Hyaluronic Acid, Echinacea stem cells, bio-flavonoids, resveratrol and vitamin B, C and E. These potent ingredients are formulated in the patented A2B Technology delivery molecule which ensures that the formula is delivered to where it is needed, actively penetrating the scalp during washing.

Vitamin Restore comes in a 250 ml bottle, which peaks into a small nozzle at the top. This gives complete control of the amount of product dispensed, plus can be used to apply directly to the scalp.

The treatment is of a cream consistency, thick, yet feels light-weight. It has a fresh pleasant citrus scent.

As recommended, I applied the treatment to dry hair, before I got into the shower. I squeezed product via the nozzle directly onto my scalp. Because I have long hair, I also applied product to my ends.

Next I massaged the product into my hair and stepped into the shower so I could wet my hands adding a little water to my hair as I continued to massage. I then used a wide-toothed comb to evenly distribute the treatment through my tresses.

The product is recommended to be left in the hair for 2 minutes before rinsing. Of course, I left it on for longer, leaving it in while I did everything else I needed to do in the shower.

Rinsing out was easy. From the moment I started washing my hair, it felt like silk. I must say that it was nice not having to shampoo and condition my hair.

The result? Clean, soft, shiny hair. Brushing it was a dream, normally it takes me some time to get a brush through my hair, thanks to it being fine and prone to tangling. Not after using Julien Farel's Vitamin Restore, my hair was actually manageable. Another thing I noticed was that my hair didn't feel weighed down by the product, but had more volume and bounce.

My hair looks alive, not dull and drab from years of colour damage. I'll show you a before and after. Please excuse the terrible regrowth, a visit with my hairdresser is long overdue!

Just look at that shine!

...and bounce!

This range will be available at TVSN starting from Sunday May 28, I know I'll be tuning in to the live demos for sure!

* I was given this product for consideration, this is not a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Love Potion Perfume 2017 Spring Collection and Giveaway

I previously blogged about my perfume collection, if you missed it, you can check it out here. I mentioned that Love Potion Perfume was my latest scent obsession. They are pretty much the only perfume company that I now buy from.

I only just recently received an order, so thought I should write a little about the company.

Here's what the company is about in their own words- "Add a little magic to your life! Experience how good it feels to smell warm and welcoming; crisp, clean and professional; or mouth-wateringly delicious. This is the "magic" of scent- it lends you the ability to create any aura you choose, or to enhance a very special moment. We'd like to introduce you to this world, where it is our goal to empower you and build your self confidence, stimulate your senses and inspire your mind, help you obtain your goals, and bring joy to your days and nights through the power of scent! Please join us and see how Love Potion Magickal Perfumerie can add a little MAGIC to your life."

I would like to begin by saying that customer service is amazing, the team go above and beyond to make sure you as the customer is happy.

It's probably obvious that I think the products are fantastic. There are scents for men and women catering to all tastes in perfume. Not only concocting wonderful fragrance, there are perfumes created with a little extra something. Some contain pheromones, which may have the potential to impact social and sexual behaviour.

A list of the available pheromone mixes can be found here.

Everyone is different so the wearer can be affected by pheromones in different ways. It is best to start with smaller doses, then add more if needed with the next application. Experimentation is important, even writing notes to find your own sweet spot in regards to application.

With the perfume oils, creator Mara suggests that it is best to apply in an upside down lollipop. So start between the breasts, then draw a line down and around the naval. This is the area of the body that will best diffuse the fragrance. It is worth noting that when using heavily copulin enhanced fragrances, it is best to avoid contact with clothing and hair. So apply, let dry, then get dressed. Drying of the perfume can be helped by using the wrists to "smoosh" the perfume into the skin.

For plenty of more helpful information do check out the Love Potion Perfume forum here. The members are amazing and more than happy to share their knowledge. When I joined the forum, I spent days just reading all the available advice.

Ok, now that I have touched on the company, I would like to share a give away with you. It is the Spring 2017 sample collection containing 10 samples.

AOA Studio Liquid Lipsticks

AOA is a brand that I had never heard of until I came across online store Shop Miss A. This store sells makeup, beauty tools and much more with almost everything costing no more than US$1, which is crazy to me. There are reviews of the products, which does make it easier when choosing what to buy. Though, at US$1 hit and miss products are not a huge deal. I bought mostly makeup, but threw in a few sheet masks and even a pair of sunnies!

What I would like to show you today are the AOA Studio liquid lipsticks. I bought both matte and metal versions.

From left to right we have OMG, Tease, Vanity, Sugar and Moon.

The lipsticks come with a standard doe foot applicator. They have a thin consistency. I find application fairly easy and these shades are nicely pigmented and are opaque in one application. No patchiness or streaking.

I was pleasantly surprised with just how comfortable the liquid lipsticks are to wear. It feels like there is nothing on my lips. The metals are smooth and not gritty.

As expected, these lipsticks have a long wear time. The Metals start to flake after a few hours, but the Mattes outlasted those, unless I ate something oily. Eating oily foods is not a great idea when wearing liquid lipsticks, it just breaks them down.

Now onto some face looks and lip swatches.

I've actually been blown away by how great these liquid lipsticks, the matte being my favourite. I only ordered to have a play and test them out, I didn't have any real expectations. For US$1 they're pretty amazing!

I will be linking this post to Ingrid's Monday Makeup Madness, check it out for other fantastic beauty related blogs!

Stocktake 2017- Perfume

Now that I have a designated area for all my beauty products, I thought I'd do a little stocktake of everything while reorganizing. If you haven't seen my Beauty Room Tour, you can check that out here

Up first is my perfume collection, the last time I did a count of my perfumes it was way back in July of 2015. The post I wrote on that is here. So this is where I am almost 3 years later...

Here are my regular over the counter perfumes. I rarely buy them now. Previous count was 15 and I now have 18. As you can see, I have a few mini perfumes, so I shouldn't have much problem finishing those.

Indie perfumes is where my love of perfume really lies. I had to break up the collection into a few photos. Here goes :)

This photo shows perfumes from Arcadian Designs, Something Special and there's a few others that I am not sure of the brand.

These perfumes were created by a dear friend who truly has a gift, actually more than one. Su is on Instagram and takes wonderful photos, mostly of insects, hence her account name search @theinsectdiary to check out her photos. These oils are amazing and still smell fantastic after owning them for years.

Here are The Morbid The Merrier, which was a favourite seller of mine until customer service was so bad they shut down. Also one from Smell Bent, 2 from One Hand Washes The Other and 1 from Deep Midnight Perfumes.

Pictured are Latherati, Symbolic Imports, Ophelia's Apothecary, Darling Clandestine and one I'm not sure where it came from.

This is my collection of oils from Hayward Enterprises, they specialise in perfume dupes.

Another company that sells dupes is Opulent Alchemy.

These are Possets perfumes, I especially love their gourmand scents.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab is the company that began my obsession with indie perfumes.

Last but certainly not least is my latest addiction, which is pretty obvious because the next 4 photos are of the one company.

Love Potion Perfumes is a company that I just can't get enough of. I have both oils and sprays. I will have to do a separate post in the near future about them because with some fragrances having added pheromones and even pheromones on their own, they are different to anything I have tried before. My wishlist continues to grow.

2015 Total Indie Perfumes- 87
Current Total- 128

...And here are my samples! Last count was 40 and I now have 71. So much for downsizing samples! But, to be fair LP Perfumes come out with new collections every other month and it's so hard to resist buying sample packs each time!

I think I have every need covered and some for perfume! I don't really have a goal, apart from using and getting enjoyment from this collection.

What about you, do you love perfume, too?
