Fun Halloween Nails

Happy Halloween, or should I say BOO! Now, I know I'm Australian and Halloween is an American tradition, but I love the fun of Halloween. I don't celebrate the origins, I just get caught up with the "Trick or Treating" with the kids and it's a good excuse to create some fun looks. And this is where I tell you about my Halloween nails.

To create the look on my nails, I used Maybelline Porcelain Party, China Glaze Black Mesh Crackle, Femme Fatale's Sinister Calling and Shadowsong, which is brought to life over black, becoming a gorgeous purple colour. I have not used a shatter polish for so long! To be honest, I had become quite over it, however, I really like the way it turned out for this look.

To give my nails more of a Halloween feel, I added some stickers. Maybe I should include a game called "What are the stickers?" Lol, they got lost on the mani! On the index finger, the stickers are visible, that red thing is actually a spider, there's a bat on the thumb and spider web on the ring finger, which decided to start peeling off already! I seem to have no luck with stickers staying put. I should stick to decals.
I hope you like my mani, I rediscovered the shatter polish, and am so glad that I did!

Look of the Day

Although I love to play with various eye shadows, I often concentrate on one colour for the lid and then neutrals to contour. For this look, I decided to use two noticeably different colours on my lid.

Face- Dr LeWinn's Primer and Anti ageing Foundation, I love this liquid foundation.
Coastal Scents Camo Quad in Medium to conceal and highlight. This beauty has 4 shades. I use the white to highlight under my brows. To conceal dark circles, I use a mixture of the darkest and medium tones. I am finding this quad to be such a multi-tasking product. I was a little intimidated with the 4 colour creams, but now I reach for it daily.
L'Oreal Blush in Sandalwood Veil. This dusty pink blush seems to be my go-to-blush of late. It gives my cheeks a touch of pink.

Lips- Mirenesse lip liner in Rose.
Mavala Lipstick in Nagoya. A creamy formula, the only thing that I don't like is the smell. It's not overly strong, but I'm not a fan.

Eyes- Evil Shades Panic, I just love this coral!
Inner lid is a beautiful champagne colour from Virus Insanity.
I then used a dark brown shade to  contour with a matte neutral to blend it  out.
Physicians Formula eye liner
Majolica Majorca lash fibre duo on lashes.

Glitter Gradient Nails

I had decided that I wanted to create a glitter gradient look for my nails, I had even chosen the glitter polish that I wanted to use. What I did have trouble with was the base colour that I was going to apply. My solution? Different base colours!

The hero of this mani being the glitter polish Glinting Lodestone from Aussie indie company Femme Fatale.

I hope you like my gradient version, I need to try some different variations. I'm sure a warm orange/red would be interesting, what do you think?

Nail Polish Storage

For a long time now, I've stored my nail polishes in a set of large plastic drawers. Apart from running out of room, I had another problem. I found that I wasn't using various polishes, because I just couldn't see them. I spent a lot of time googling different ideas. Although there's some lovely storage shelves, I didn't want to pay 100s of dollars. FINALLY, I come up with something that I am extremely happy with.

Um, sorry about the wonky pic, but it really is square, lol.

Now for the best part...the step shelves I bought from Kmart in the homewares department for $7 each. the metal shelf case was $15 from Bunnings. So, with a total of $46, I now have nail polish storage that I am content with :)

EOTD Featuring Virus Insanity Techno

Just a quick post to showcase the lovely shadow from Virus Insanity, Techno. It is such a bright green, but with a little olive and brown contouring, I believe it is totally wearable. Not that I'm the best judge, of course. I don't just stick to day friendly neutrals, there's days that I also love to include bright colours on my lids!

I think that this shadow is such a gorgeous Spring colour!

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- Estee Lauder ANR Serum

Not being one in a position to use high end products on a regular basis, you can imagine how excited I was to get the opportunity to trial a product with the Estee Lauder label. Not only did I get to try the much loved Advanced Night Repair, but the new and improved version.
This serum has been formulated with well-known hydration ingredient Hyaluronic Acid and exclusive ChronoluxCB technology. What does this mean for the user? Well, it is expected to provide intense hydration, an important process in the fight against signs of ageing.  If the skin is adequately hydrated lines and wrinkles become reduced and skin looks radiant. The technology helps skin when it is working its hardest, at night. In turn, the skin should reap the benefits during the day.
I received the 30 ml sized square shaped amber bottle common to the Estee Lauder range. Delivery is possible through the dropper, making for a more hygienic way to apply the product.
Being a fluid consistency, only a small amount is needed. I found that a small squeeze of the dropper was enough product for my face and neck. It has a fragrance unique to the range. It is hard to describe, but I don't find the citrus-y type scent at all over powering.
I loved how the quickly the serum absorbed into my skin, disappearing with no tackiness or residue. The feel of the product on my skin is just so luxe, I feel like I'm pampering my skin every night that I use it.
Immediately after use, my face and neck feels soft, supple and beautifully hydrated before even applying a moisturiser. I find that when I wake the next morning, it is only routine that I feel I need use a moisturiser, because my skin continues to feel soft and plump.
After using the bottle, I experienced a more radiant tone. Obviously, the unevenness is still apparent, but my skin doesn't appear quite as dull. The hydration seems to be plumping out my fine lines. I don't have a problem using the serum around my delicate eye area, which is great because I am in need of help to reduce the crows feet that have formed in this area, which I have no doubt that this serum is helping.
What a fabulous product Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II is! I believe that you are getting what you pay for with this serum, a luxe product that not only feels divine, but delivers.
Would I repurchase? When my budget allows..definitely!

Dark Heart Designs

Well, I have stretched out the indie mineral make up products for review as far as I could. Being on a make up no-buy, I am about to show case the last of my to-review stash. It makes me feel a little sad, but the no-buy was necessary. It won't last forever, but I really need to shift some make up before replenishing my stock.
I don't really recall how I stumbled upon the business Dark Heart Designs, but I had fun playing with the products. Purchase is available online via Store Envy.

Fantasy- Mauve shimmer

Hero- Pale blue shimmer

Storybook- Rusty red.

Enchanted- Pastel mint green.

Villain- Grape purple.

Ever After- Golden peach.

Anna- Murky taupe colour.

Kiki- Purple blue colour.

Coral Fang- Bright coral.

Dirty Diana- Deep purple.

Magic- Graphite shimmer.

Fairy Tale- Icy green.

Deal- Golden brown.

Curse- Dirty lavender.

These shadows have lovely pigment and are easy to work with and blend. As with all mineral shadows, I get best results using over a sticky base.

These are listed as Eye Light Gel Liners. The sea green colour is Green Gentleman, with the coral pink Poison Girl being the swatch on the right.
This gel formula has a bouncy gel consistency. It does take some time to work with, but the metallic colour pay-off is certainly worth it.

These lipsticks, True Love's Kiss (ruddy coral) and Love Bites (cool pink), are a creamy, moisturising formula with opaque coverage.

I like that the cream based products are in clam shell style pots.

Here I am wearing Ever After on my lid, Deal in the crease and lined with Poison Girl.

For this look I used Fairy Tale in the inner lid, Coral Fang in the center, Anna in the crease and Story Book along the brow.

There are so many products to choose from, it's worth checking out Dark Heart Designs.
