Favourites 2019 #1

My first favourites post of 2019 and it's only January. Go me! I don't post monthly on favourites because I just don't try enough new products, but I realised I was reaching for products regularly that I loved and have not spoken about.

None of these beauty faves are new, but they are new to me.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze- I have been reaching for this eye cream a lot lately, which I am glad about because I have had this for years now. The Color Tattoos I generally use as a base for eye shadow, but this Summer the days have been too hot for me to want to bother with wearing much makeup. This Color Tattoo, eye liner and mascara and I'm good to go!

Heel Chemistry- I bought this during Deciem's Black Friday sale. It was so discounted that I thought I'd give it a try. Well, this heel cream is amazing. I have dry, cracked heels. Ugh, so gross. But, the only time they have been as smooth as this in Summer is when I've used a foot file or foot peeling mask. I'm so glad that I bought 2!

De Lorenzo Instant Restructurant Leave-In Spray- This treatment has been fantastic for my hair, not only is it a great detangler, but has been keeping my hair soft and smooth. My dull hair is looking alive again

Dove Silky Nourishment Body Cream- This cream has been keeping my body hydrated and soft, without being too heavy. It absorbs quickly and the scent is a fresh, yet soft scent that I love, especially because I use it at night and it's a lovely bedtime fragrance.

Taken with flash to show holo in the face

I bought this watch from eBay at the luxury price tag of $12.92 with free postage. I wasn't expecting to love it quite as much as I do. It has a magnetic clasp, so easy to fasten and I love the holo shimmer in the black face.

Another recent non-beauty fave is a trilogy by Hugh Howie. Wool, Shift and Dust are books based on a dystopian future, where people now live in a silo because the outside is inhabitable, but all is not as it seems. They had me hooked and now even my hubby is reading them. They are suspenseful, yet aren't a heavy read.

What about you? What have you been loving lately?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette

First of all, I never thought I would be reviewing a ABH eye shadow palette. I have been lusting after one of her palettes ever since the much loved Modern Renaissance palette. Well, I was lucky enough to win this coveted item thanks to an Instagram giveaway care of the lovely @beauty_by_nyssa . Without further ado, I will show you this beauty.

I love the look of the purple velvet finished packaging. I know I won't be loving it once it starts getting dirty, so will continue to admire it while I can, lol.

I was drawn to this palette because of the pops of purple. I'll show you the swatches.

Ok, I'll begin by saying that I am sorry about these horrible swatches, but they give you an idea of the shades. The shadows are quite soft, especially the second last one on the first row, I actually left a dent in the shadow just by pressing my finger in the pan. The mattes do have kick-up but blend beautifully.

Norvina certainly boasts some gorgeous shades and I am so happy she is in my collection. Is the palette perfect? Nope, the purples were not quite as pigmented as I was expecting, but she continues to have pride of place on my dresser.

Lipstick Declutter Update #13

I figured it was time for a lipstick declutter update and it just happens to be my first for 2019.

Lime Crime Lipstick in Fishnet

I was very close to keeping this lipstick, because this is the first time that I have worn it. I just know that I won't reach for it. Buying it on clearance makes me feel a bit better about decluttering this lipstick.

ColourPop Matte Lippie Stix in Toucan

I remember the first time I tried this lipstick on I thought it was an amazing colour. I still like it, but it's not a shade that I'm realistically going to wear. I am decluttering.

AOA  Wonder Matte in Tease

I like the shade, but am not a fan of the sticky formula, so saying goodbye.

ColourPop Ultra Satin in Brooklyn

This shade is so pretty, but the formula has thickened, so I think it's bin time for this one!

Ausrralis VelourLips

I can't remember the shade of this liquid lipstick, the name was on the plastic shrink wrapping. It's a stunning red, but I have other lip products this colour that I like the formulas of more.

Skinn Caviar Lip Cream in Ruby

Again another gorgeous red. It's opaque and comfortable, but being a gloss formula, I know I won't reach for it. I prefer my glosses to be on the sheer side.

Lime Crime Lipstick in Lace-Up

Although I don't wear browns much, I quite like this shade, it's a rich and warm lip colour that seems to suit my skin tone.

MUA Luxe in Punk

I like the shade, but I don't like the formula. It's probably a good thing to declutter this lip product anyway, because it has been years since I even purchased a MUA product.

Well, I seemed to have redeemed myself from my last declutter where I only got rid of one lipstick. This time around I am only keeping one.

My lipstick collection is now at 68.

Nail Polish Declutter Update #14

My first nail polish declutter update of the year!

Purple Effect

I love the purple, I love the holo, so keeping it is an easy choice.

Chunky Holo Black

I did consider decluttering this nail polish topper, but I really like the different sized holo chunks, so it's staying.

Sparkle Ruby

I really like the shade of this holo, so I will be keeping it.

Between The Flags

I love this shade, what the photo doesn't show is the golden shimmer running through the reddish pink. It's textured, but I really like it! Keeping.

Although this polish doesn't make a good base colour because it dried with a tacky finish, it is a great stamping nail polish, so it's staying in my stash.

Speckle

Although this splatter polish doesn't look so great on its own, it looks pretty good over a base colour, so I will be keeping it.

Copper

This firey orange is stunning, it is not going anywhere!

As Gold As It Gets

Sorry about my terrible nails! I will be keeping this polish because it is a gorgeous topper adding a golden shimmer to any nail polish.

Well, that's not a great start to the decluttering of my nail polish collection for the year, oops! Oh well, hopefully the next one will be an improvement. I mean, it will only take getting rid of one to be an improvement!

My nail polish stash is now at 70.

December Empties

As we say good-bye to 2018 and hello to the new year, I need to show you my December empties.

Once again I'm not breaking any records with the amount of products I used up. In fact, I don't even have that many decluttered products. I'll show you.

Beauty By Nicholas Eye Alchemy- This is an eye serum that is hydrating and absorbs really well.
Repurchase? This product did not do anything noticeable for my under eye area. My hunt for my holy grail eye cream continues.

Beauty By Nicholas Omega Hydroxy- This serum is an alpha hydroxy powerhouse, potent, yet I did not experience any adverse reactions. It's an easy step that I added to my night time skincare routine.
Repurchase? I believe I will see this serum again in my future. I loved it! The serum really helped with the texture on my skin, also I noticed visible improvements in skin congestion. The only reason why I haven't bought one yet is because I will be starting another active which will be too much to combine with this one.

Moreish Cream Cleanser- A long time firm favourite that I have declared my love in empties posts many times.
Repurchase? I would if I could.

Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Moisturiser- My daughter loves this day cream, so I decided to give it a try for myself. It's quite light and is better for my skin in warmer months when my skin doesn't feel as dry.
Repurchase? I found it to be ok, nothing special, so I wouldn't repurchase. Also at 29 ml, it's quite small and I finished it rather quickly, so not very good value for money.

Gold Mask Gold Essence Sheet Mask- This sheet mask has really cool gold packaging, but that's as far as my excitement went. It was nice and hydrating, but nothing special.
Repurchase? There's so many sheet masks I want to try that I won't be purchasing this one again.

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara- I must admit that I was excited when I actually needed to buy a mascara, not one I had been hoarding forever because of a massive stash. Nope, I needed one and although it was hard to choose from all the drugstore mascaras, I was drawn to this one. Yes, that gold packaging with purple writing drew me in. Thankfully, I really liked the volume and length this mascara provided. It also didn't smudge on me throughout wear.
Repurchase? Yes, I would buy again, but there's so many I still want to try before settling on just one mascara.

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner- This liner has a fine brush tipped applicator that provides an opaque black line. It's easy to use, so if I can use it, anyone can, lol.
Repurchase? Probably. I am currently using some gel liners at the moment and don't want to risk them drying out, so I won't be buying any black liquid liners for a while.

BH Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner- This liner has been sitting in my stash for a very long time, I don't know how I missed it, but I started using it once the Master Precise ran out. It is very similar, if not slightly blacker, but I only got a couple of uses out of it before it dried up.
Repurchase? I don't buy from BH Cosmetics as much any more, so probably not. I just don't think to add any of the liners to my cart.

I'm decluttering 2 eye shadow palettes from my collection. The BYS Neutral Charm palette is my fault for not using it. I've had it for years and swatched it many times, but not applied to my lids. Such a shame because all of the metallic shades are really nice, but unfortunately there is a weird bumpy texture on one of the shadows, so it's time to go.

I can't believe I'm getting rid of the UD Theodora palette because I love the packaging, but I didn't love the palette and I don't have room to display another one. What I did do, is remove a couple of shades that I did like and swap them with a couple from the Glinda palette. Out of the 2, the Glinda packaging won over this one.

Also decluttering a single UD eye shadow. I don't reach for singles often and this shimmer cream shade is one I never use.

The Botani Radiant Rose Mask has to go, it's gotten old and I just didn't like it. I used the mask a few times and it did zero for me, which is disappointing.

Just a handful of nail polishes and lipsticks to throw away this time. With this hot weather, I have hardly been wearing makeup.

Thanks for reading and thank you so much for your support. Happy New Year xx
