February Empties

I hope your year so far is going well. I am sad to see Summer ending, but Autumn is better than Winter, my least favourite time of year. I'll get to showing you the products that I finished in February.

Not a bad month for empty products and products that I am decluttering.

Skin Republic 24K Gold Aquagel Under Eye Patch- The pack contains 2 sets of serum infused patches for the under eye area. These worked well to plump out my crows feet.
Repurchase? I really liked the results I got and would definitely consider buying in the future.

Skin Republic Youthfoil Face Mask- I must say that this foil mask was fun to use. A nice mask to give the skin a hit of hydration, leaving soft, refreshed looking skin.
Repurchase? It's not my favourite Skin Republic sheet mask, but I wouldn't be opposed to trying it again.

Red Ginseng Essence Mask Sheet? A cloth sheet mask. Not much else to say really.
Repurchase? I wouldn't bother trying to seek out this mask to buy again. It wasn't bad, just didn't excite me.

Collagen Facial Mask- A hydrating cloth sheet mask.
Repurchase? No, another meh sheet mask. There are so many available that I would only repurchase a sheet mask that excited me.

Skin Republic Neck and Decolletage Repair- This sheet mask is only for the neck and decolletage area. This mask hydrated my neck and chest area, making any lines barely visible.
Repurchase? I would definitely consider buying this sheet mask again. It provided such noticeable results. I was impressed.

Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Facial Mask- This was a sample sachet of the clay mask. This mask worked well to deep cleanse and clarify my skin, but it also provided a healthy glow to my skin.
Repurchase? I will definitely be buying this clay mask in a full size. It surpassed my expectation of a clay mask.

Sukin Anti-Pollution Facial Masque- This is a typical clay mask. It's great for deep cleansing the skin.
Repurchase? I don't feel that I need this face mask in my life, my skin enjoys more hydrating treatments.

Beauty By Nicholas No No Needles Serum- This is a product that is meant to just be applied to areas of concern where it comes to lines and wrinkles. It is a temporary fix.
Repurchase? I prefer products that provide permanent results. This product worked well, I just don't wish to add the extra step to my skincare routine, to be honest.

NS8 Heel Balm- A cream for cracked, dehydrated heels. It's rich, but absorbs fairly quickly. Consistent use of this product meant I had smoother heels.
Repurchase? A great product that I really need to repurchase!

Swisse Rosehip Oil Facial Moisturiser- I finished a trial size of this moisturiser. It's a decent no-frills cream. I used it morning and night.
Repurchase? I am currently using a full size that I have and would consider repurchasing. I used the Vitamin E version and have found this one to be slightly more hydrating (plus I love rosehip oil!)

Sierra Bees Pomegranite Lip Balm- This is one of a pack of 5 lip balms that I bought from iHerb. A great everyday lip balm which I love the flavour of.
Repurchase? These were very budget friendly and quite good for the price, soothing but not too waxy or sticky. I would buy again.

The Jojoba Company Pigmentation Oil- This oil was beautiful and hydrating on my skin, but after using this bottle I saw no visible improvement in my pigmentation.
Repurchase? Although I actually enjoyed using this oil, I wanted to target my pigmentation and this product just didn't cut it.

Dermalogica Total Eye Care- I love that this eye cream has SPF, though it is only a rating of 15+ which just isn't high enough for me. It is a tinted eye product, but not really noticeable when applied.
Repurchase? This is an ok all-rounder, but I need a more hydrating eye cream, so I wouldn't spend my money on this product.

NS8 Leg Cream- This cream formulated for the legs is silky smooth and gives a cooling effect on the legs.
Repurchase? I can see why people like this product, but I don't need it, I'm happy to use a regular body moisturiser, so nope I'm not buying.

Sally Hansen Nail Rehab- A nail treatment to strengthen the nails. I used it as a base coat. I enjoyed how quick it dried.
Repurchase? I didn't use it consistently enough to see stronger nails (which I could really do with). It was fine as a base coat, but I constantly switch up my nail products. so not sure I'll come back to this one.

Garnier BB Cream for Combination/Oily Skin- I love that this BB Cream gives almost a medium coverage and actually sets on my skin so that it's not greasy like some BB Creams I have tried.
Repurchase? This is my HG BB Cream and I will continue to repurchase.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts- This is an eye shadow cream that I used as an eye shadow base. I am so happy to finish another Color Tattoo. I have a few and am worried that they are going to go bad before I use them up.
Repurchase? Great product, but I have a few so I won't be buying this or any other Color Tattoo for quite some time.

I am getting rid of these lipsticks and nail polishes after trying them on for my respective declutter series. I am also saying goodbye to the Maybelline Brow Tattoo. It's not a bad product, but it takes too much time to do my brows with it. I know I'm never going to use it. It pains me to bin the Wotnot Sunscreen/primer. I wasn't happy with the greasiness and white cast, but it performed well under makeup. Unfortunately my skin reacted to it, so I we are going to part ways.

Well, that wraps up another empties post. Thanks for reading! xx

Wotnot Anti-Aging Facial Sunscreen and Primer

I may have found my HG sunscreen in the Skin79 Water Wrapped Sunscreen, but I am still on the search for an easily accessible sunscreen preferably in Australia and a physical option. The Wotnot Anti-Aging Facial Sunscreen and Primer was brought to my attention by a fellow member on my fave website Beauty Heaven.

Taken from Wotnot- "Wotnot SPF 30 anti-aging facial sunscreen and primer uses the finest and most gentle natural extracts to protect, prime and brighten while Cosmos approved plant collagen helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles."

The sunscreen is packaged in a 75 g squeeze tube with flip top lid which is the typical packaging for a sunscreen. This product is a thick consistency. Not surprisingly, it has a sunscreen scent, but it isn't strong.

Although the sunscreen is a thick lotion it is easy to work with. I can distribute the product evenly across face and neck without too much effort. I have not experienced any uneven patches when applying.

Something I've noticed when I apply this sunscreen is that I have been experience a slight reaction. I can't describe it as a burning, because it doesn't hurt. Maybe a warming of the skin..? It's weird because I don't have sensitive skin and I wouldn't have thought there was anything in the gentle formula to cause a reaction.

I am left with a slight white cast, which does make my skin look ashy. I have also found that the sunscreen remains tacky throughout wear and can look a little shiny.

Under makeup it is great, I do not need to use a primer as this makes for a lovely base for foundation. Makeup just glides over the top and this sunscreen helps it to last throughout wear.

Unfortunately, I am not impressed by the Wotnot Anti-Aging Facial Sunscreen and Primer, it's great under makeup, but I'm looking for an alrounder sunscreen that I don't need makeup to cover. I actually prefer the Sunsense Sensitive Invisible Sunscreen which is cheaper and has a higher SPF at 50 +

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick

I was pretty excited when I was invited by Beauty Heaven to trial the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink liquid lipstick. I had heard the buzz over these new liquid lipsticks and couldn't wait to put one to the test.

Taken from Maybelline- "Ink your lips in up to 16 hour saturated liquid matte. SuperStay Matte Ink features a unique arrow applicator for precise application and is available in 10 super saturated shades."

The liquid lipstick comes in a squared plastic tube. The tube is the shade of the lipstick and it comes complete with a contrasting glossy white lid. The Matte Ink has a creamy consistency and smells so delicious having a gourmand vanilla frosting scent.

The applicator of this lipstick is a sponge one, but it has a unique shape. The tip is a tear drop with a tiny well in the center. The pointed end of the sponge is great for precise application, whereas in the middle where you want the most amount of lipstick for the lips.

I received the shade Pioneer a gorgeous true red shade which is a colour I have been loving.  The formula goes onto the lips smoothly. One layer gives me an opaque lipstick application without streaks or patchiness.

Not long after application the Matte Ink feels quite sticky on the lips as it is drying down. So my initial thoughts was oh no, I don't like this. However, after around 20 minutes when the lipstick had actually set my lips only felt slightly tacky. The lipstick at this stage is completely transfer proof.

I got an impressive 7 hours wear before I washed my makeup off and the lipstick was still going strong, being tested during eating, drinking and even a cheeky little kiss with hubby.

Not only do I love the shade Pioneer, but also really like the formula of the Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick, easily the best drugstore liquid lipstick I have tried. I found that it lasted all day and was comfortable on my lips. The Matte Ink is a win for me!

Nail Polish Declutter Update #4

I will begin by admitting that this update was not a great one for wearing nail polish. I managed to try on 5, meaning that for 1 of the weeks I only wore 1 nail polish. I really need to up my game if I'm going to get this declutter done in this century!

Rich Pearl

 Blue Illusion

Avante Green

Endless Blue

I will be keeping Jelly and Endless Blue. This means I am getting rid of 3 nail polishes! Yes! I really liked the rich chocolate brown shade of Rich Pearl, but the formula is thick and hard to apply. I am not keen on the blue shade of Blue Illusion  and Avante Green is very sheer.

Current tally of nail polishes is 24.

Thanks for reading! xx

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Having extremely dry lips I figured that the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask might just be the product for me.

Taken from Laneige- "Sleep-in mask for the lips, gently melts away dead skin cells leaving lips moist and supple the next morning."

Available in the flavours Berry, Grapefruit, Apple Lime and Vanilla I opted for the Apple Lime.

The balm comes in a 20 g jar with screw top cap. Under the cap is one of those plastic removable lids. This product is quite a thick balm, but no thicker than other lip balms pots I have tried in the past. The balm comes complete with a little spatula to apply product.

The product smells and tastes tart and fruity, so good!

As the name suggests, I use this product at night. When I first started applying this lip balm, I did use the spatula. But since, I've just gotten lazy and apply with my finger. Something I've done with every other potted or tube balm I have tried in the past, lol.

I find this product so soothing, it's like a nourishing cushion for my lips. When I wake in the morning, my lips are still soft. If I'm going to wear a matte lipstick, I still have to use a lip scrub on my lips to prep them, but I don't feel like I need to rush and put a lip balm on my lips, like I often do when I first get up.

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is a win for me!

Lipstick Declutter Update #1

I am really enjoying trying on different lipsticks. It's nice to change things up and not get stuck in a rut that I can so often easily fall into.

YBF but can't find a name

Maybelline Color Sensational in Shocking Coral

Urban Decay Lip Color in Glinda

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick in Siren in Scarlet

Covergirl Outlast Lipstick in Shade 598

Makeup Revolution Matte Lipstick in Dare

W7 Butter Kiss Lipstick in Pretty in Pink

BYS Matte Lipstick in Disco Inferno

The lipsticks that I am going to remove from my collection are Maybelline Shocking Coral, Makeup Revolution Dare and W7 Pretty in Pink. It's not so much the formula of these lipsticks, but for the fact that I already have these shades in formulas that I like better.

Lipstick Tally- 10

Thanks for reading xx

Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activator

I was fortunate enough to be invited by beauty website, Beauty Heaven, to trial the Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activator. I was excited because this is a product that because it is on the pricier side, I wouldn't buy for myself.

The serum has been formulated to tone and refine skin causing it to look younger in 7 days! Huge claim.

The serum comes in a beautiful tapered bottle that is black and fades to clear as it tapers down at the bottom, so that you can see the product.

The serum is dispensed through a dropper. But, this is Lancome, so it's no ordinary dropper. As the screw-top lid is opened the dropper is filled with the required amount for application to face and neck. It just feels and looks so luxe, complete with the well known Lancome flower imprint at the top of the dropper.

So now that I have raved and it's clear that I adore the packaging, you probably really want to know about the actual serum. It is quite liquid in consistency. Although the product is masked with a floral fragrance, the alcohol scent is still noticeable, not too strong, though.

The light consistency of the serum means that it absorbs really quicly into my combination/dry skin. Although the serum disappears quickly into the skin, I have found that it gives my face and neck a hit of hydration.

I can't say I saw mind blowing results in 1 week, but after using consistently morning and night for 3 weeks I have noticed a smoother skin texture. My fine lines appear to be reduced, thanks to the slight plumping and increased elasticity of my skin.

The Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate is a luxe product that does deliver results. Although the price tag is on the higher end, only a small amount is needed and I have quite a lot of product left in the 30 ml bottle, so a little goes a long way!

Makeup Look Featuring ColourPop

It's probably no secret that I love ColourPop. I had been so tempted to buy throughout the year, but I only ordered twice last year, the biggest being towards the end of the year. I've been trying not to buy so much makeup, but there's times I just need to treat myself!

I took the opportunity to buy some products that I had not tried before.

The concealer is packaged in a tube with a wand. The applicator is unlike any I've tried before. It is more of a sponged paddle that's flexible. Applies the concealer just as well as a doe-foot.

The consistency is quite creamy, I would say slightly thicker than the Maybelline FitMe concealer. I love this product, it blends nicely and covers my dark circles well. I did set with powder as a preventative step, I always do this with any concealer I'm using so it doesn't crease.

I also bought the Precision Brow Pencil. One end there is a spoolie and the other is the wind up pencil. I'm glad I didn't wind it up too far, because it is not retractable.

I like that the pencil is quite small in diameter, making it more precise. I bought the shade Bangin Brunette which is the perfect cool toned brown for my brows. The pencil is not too soft or stiff, so applies easily and stays put.

The Super Shock Blushes have been on my radar for some time. I chose Prenup, which when I received it looked scarily darker in person than on the website.

Fortunately the blush is quite subtle when applied. It's a nice pinky mauve shade, which I find quite flattering with my skintone. Just like the Super Shock Shadows, the blush has the same mousse-y consistency. I applied easily with my regular synthetic tapered fluffy blush brush, just applying a little to add a flush of colour to my cheeks.

I did also purchase some palettes, but they will feature in their own posts in my eye shadow palette series.

Of course, I couldn't go past some Super Shock Shadows. I have a few already, so only added a pack of 3 to my cart. This is the Nuts and Berries trio. One did arrive a little damaged in the pan, but it's such a soft formula that the product is perfectly fine to use.

Cheap Date, Paradox and Amaze

I really didn't need any lip products, but this order was close to Christmas time, so I threw in the Kathleen Lights Aquarius Bundle, which is the same shade but in 3 different lip formulas Gloss, Satin and Matte. Goodness knows that adding a pink nude to my stash was not necessary, let alone 3, but they were on sale and I couldn't say no!

Ultra Glossy

Ultra Satin

Ultra Matte

...aaaaand here we have pics of me wearing all the mentioned products, with Aquarius Ultra Glossy on my lips.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend xx

Current Skincare Routine 2018

It's been a while since I showed you my current skincare routine. I have quite a few products waiting in the wings to be used, so I'm sure my routine will soon change. If I waited for my routine to stay the same, I would never get around to doing this post.

Let's get into the products that I am using.

I begin my routine in the morning with some Simple Toner on a cotton pad and massage across my face. I follow the toner with the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner to give my skin a nice hydrating drench. I then spot treat my more lined areas with the Beauty By Nicholas No No Needles serum.

Before applying The Ordinary Buffet serum, (which I can't see leaving my routine for some time) I give my skin a spritz with rosewater. Next comes my eye cream, which I'm currently using the Dermalogica Total Eye Care. Once the eye cream absorbs, which is very quickly, I follow with a mix of the Jojoba Company Pigmentation Oil and Swisse Rosehip Facial Moisturiser.. My morning skincare routine is finished off with the Wotnot Sunscreen and Primer, I can't be without a sunscreen!

I know that I normally create separate posts for my AM and PM routines, but I decided against it this time around because apart from 3 products my night skincare routine is currently the same as my morning one.

If I've worn makeup, I begin my night routine with the Swisse Moringa Cleansing Oil then I follow with the Sukin Cream Cleanser. Using a cotton pad, I then apply The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution. Skipping the Simple toner, I then repeat the rest of my morning routine.

Are you happy with your skincare routine, or do you like to change things up?

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

I've been meaning to add glycolic acid (aha) into my skincare routine again. I had considered purchasing the much raved about Pixi Glow Tonic. Of course, I ended up going with a cheaper option, this one from The Ordinary. The Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution actually has a higher concentration of the Pixi Glow Tonic, which I believe is 5%.

Taken from Deciem- "Glycolic Acid is an alpha hydoxyl acid that exfoliates the skin. This 7% toning solution offers mild exfoliation for improved skin radiance and visible clarity. The formula also contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. The formula is further supported with inclusion of ginseng root and aloe vera for both visible radiance and soothing benefits."

The glycolic toner comes in a decent sized bottle with 240 ml of product. The bottle is clear with the simple Ordinary label slapped on. I actually really like the simple packaging, certainly runs with the theme of this brand. Although the product comes with a screw cap, in the box a screw nozzle is included. I love this nozzle for dispensing the product.

There is a slight tint to the liquid

I only use this product in my pm skincare routine. After cleansing I pour some toner onto a cotton pad and wipe over my face and neck, avoiding the eye area. I experienced some tingling at the start, but by the 3rd night it just felt like an ordinary toner.

Within the first week and a half, I did get 3 pimples. They were small and not that noticeable, nothing to worry about. I just assume that the glycolic toner had caused the slightest of skin purging. Since that initial "reaction" I have noticed less texture on my skin and it just looks clearer, I've had a slight but noticeable evening of my skintone.

I like that by using this product, my skin is gently being exfoliated resulting in dead skincells being removed, which does not occur quite as well naturally as we get older.

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution is a win for me!
