February Empties 2017

Image
It's Empties time, so if you want to check out the products I finished in the month of February, keep on reading!  I only got through a handful of products this month. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Polish in White On- I didn't quite finish this polish. It had thickened and I really didn't there was enough left for me to bother adding a thinner. Repurchase? This white nail polish worked well. Even being opaque enough to use for stamping with. I would consider buying again. Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil- I was given this oil to trial. It worked extremely well as the first cleanse to remove makeup, even stubborn eyeliner. Repurchase? I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an oil cleanser, but I'm not sure I'd buy it. Only because I am content using my olive and coconut oil mix. Cougar, Sparkle Frost and Veridian Muse Love Potion Samples- I am so addicted to Love Potion Perfumes. They are available in oil or spray. Repurc...

October Empties

Image
Yeah, so it's "empties" time. Which means another month is done and dusted. I am always surprised how quick these posts seem to come around. It's dizzying just how quick this year is flying! I got through a handy amount of products, it's going to feel good binning these empties! MasqueOlogy Brightening cloth masks- I enjoy how moisturising these masks are, and I find cloth masks so easy. No applying or needing to rinse off. Repurchase? I liked them, but don't feel the need to seek them out. Ciencia8 Cleanse8 Gel - This is a wonderful cleanser. Although, it's a gel, it doesn't strip the skin like some foaming cleansers can. Repurchase? I would but it's too pricey, especially when I can spend a lot less for decent products that do just as good a job. Skinn Dermalift Neck and Decollete Serum- This is the first cream I have used to target the neck area specifically. Very nice and moisturising. Repurchase? I would definitely u...

Lacura Anti Ageing Slim Lipstick

Image
I enjoy checking out the latest Aldi catalog to see what random release is going to be available. I get especially interested when it is beauty related. The Lacura Anti Ageing Slim Lipsticks caught my eye because the packaging reminded me somewhat of ColourPop. Not the look exactly, but the actual lipstick container, with its slim plastic casing. I figured that for a few dollars, it was worth trying one..I liked the shade Nude so much that I ended up getting the other 2 on my next Aldi shopping day. "Nude"  "Dark Rose" "Pastel Rose" The selection is crap, but the actual lipstick is really good. So moisturising on the lips, and has decent longevity for a lipstick with such a creamy finish.  "Nude" is by far my favourite, I actually wasn't keen on the others, unfortunately. I was a bit meh about "Dark Rose", and I don't think "Pastel Rose" looked good on my lips at all. ...

July Empties

Image
I felt pretty good about the amount of products I finished in July. A little bit of everything, really. Makeup, skincare, perfume and nail related. Select nail polish remover- I go through nail polish remover fairly quickly, so will buy a back up during a food shop. Because most of my grocery shopping is at Woolworths, I mostly use the Select brand. Repurchase? Yes, it is convenient to buy. Skinn Hylighten Dark Circle and Puffiness Treatment - I had high expectations for this roll on serum for the under eye area. I have terrible dark circles and experience puffiness also. Repurchase? This serum was easy to add to my skincare routine because it absorbed so quickly. However, I didn't experience the results I desired, so I won't be repurchasing. Beyonce "Pulse" - A nice perfume. I hated the bottle, the base was small, so I was always knocking it over. Repurchase? The perfume did not wow me enough to warrant a replacement. Lacura Mineral Clay Mask - I...

Lacura Mineral Clay Mask

Image
You've probably already heard me waffle on about Aldi's own brand Lacura. Apart from the makeup wipes, this is the first skin care product that I have reviewed. The products can be hit and miss, which I guess is common in most brands, but the small outlay is worth trying anything of interest. The mask comes in a squeeze tube.  As expected, the tube comes with a flip top lid. The product is a pale green of, you guessed it, clay consistency. This clay mask has a herbal smell to it. The product is quite thick, however, I did find it smoothed across my skin fairly easily.  Recommended time to leave on is 15 minutes, generally I leave on for about 30. It does dry on the skin and does feel tight. I usually remove when my skin starts feeling itchy. I just wash off with a warm face washer. I actually find this to be a relatively easy process, considering that it does set on the skin. Once removed, my skin is left feeling clean, soft and smooth. My face ...

May Empties

Image
Another month, another empties post...   In May I finished quite a few products, and discovered some new favourite products. Wotnot Wipes- I bought a pack of 3 of these makeup wipes when on sale. Repurchase? I'm not sure, the wipes did a decent job of removing my makeup after my nightly oil cleanse. I am content using any brand that is cheap and does the job. FCUK Connect Perfume - This was a nice perfume to use, fruity and sweet. Repurchase? The longevity just wasn't good enough to warrant another purchase of this perfume. Skinn Vacuum Deep Pore Cleansing Mask - Ever since having a skin care routine, a clay mask has always been my weekly treatment. I've been using so many Skinn Cosmetics products of late and just had to try one of the brand's iconic products. Repurchase? I would consider after finishing up my current clay masks. I was using this mask 3 times a week, but because I was going through too much product, I cut back to once weekly. I found ...

Lacura Naturals Macadamia and Shea Butter Lip Balm

Image
Aldi's own skincare brand Lacura, has surprised me with their decent products, considering the very budget friendly prices.  As I was wondering around doing my weekly grocery shopping, I noticed the triple pack of Naturals Macadamia and Shea Butter Lip Balm. Containing vitamin E, macadamia oil and shea butter, the lip balm moisturises the lips, while protecting them from the sun with spf.  The lip balm comes in a tube, reminds me of the old lip balm tubes., where you twist up, rather than wind. It is a thick formula and when I began using this lip balm, it did feel heavy on my lips, similar to the feel of lipstick. I did get used to the feel over time.  It is truly hydrating, drenching the lips with the moisturising properties, yet without being sticky. There is only a low spf factor of 6, but some protection is better than none, I guess. I had never before thought of buying a lip balm with a sunscreen, but lips certainly need protection from the sun, also...

January Empties

Image
Is it just me, or did it seem like only a few days ago that we were ringing in the new year? Oh well, as we say good bye to January, I will show you the products I have used up. Lacura Cleansing Wipes- These wipes are affordable, and do a decent job of helping to remove makeup residue after I have oil cleansed. I still apply a cleanser afterward, I'd just prefer to remove makeup with a wipe, as opposed to staining a face washer. I also used these to spot clean my brushes between washes.  Repurchase? Most likely. I do find that the tape that seals the bag loses its tackiness rather quickly, causing the wipes to dry out. When this happens I wet them and use them like I would a face washer, so I'm not really expecting a lot, only that they aren't rough on my skin, which these are not. Coles Nail Polish Remover- I don't often shop at Coles, but had a gift card to use, and well, just happened to need polish remover that week. Repurchase? I wouldn't rule it out,...

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- Lacura CC Cream

Image
Lacura is Aldi's beauty brand. I've only dabbled in the skincare, buying face wipes and cleansers. I've heard that their anti-ageing skincare is decent, especially for the budget price. Although, Aldi sells some beauty products on a regular basis, most of what they sell is released sporadically. One of these releases being a CC cream. At such a low price, I figured that I had nothing to lose by trying. It comes in a small 30 ml tube that only needs to be gently squeezed to release product. It is of a BB cream consistence, light pinky flesh tone in colour, no shade options are available. Having a different idea in mind of what a CC cream was, I thought it strange not to have more colour choices. I knew CC creams were for colour correcting, but I assumed that it would have the same coverage as a BB cream. This is the only one I have tried, other brands may offer more coverage? Anyway, back to the cream at hand, lol, I did find this cream to have a slight sunscreen t...
