Concrete Minerals

It has taken me a while to finally get to playing with an order that I'd purchased from Concrete Minerals some time ago. I have a box that I place all my indie purchases. I play with them in order, for each review..It's almost an OCD thing, it MUST be in order, lol. The only problem is, when I've been busy, thus being slow to write up blog posts, I don't get to delve into my lovely products for some time. When I finally got to the Concrete Minerals order containing the Sugar and Spice kit, I couldn't wait to try it all out!

I just love the cute tin!

This collection contains the following products:

BRAT: Fuchsia.

WICKED: Deep lavender shimmer.

ROCKED: Iridescent orange sherbet shimmer.

LOLITA: Olive.taupe shimmer.

SEXY LIPS LIP TINT in TEASE: Hot pink with violet undertones.

Also in my order:

STROBELIGHT: Silvery blue.

BLITZKRIEG:  Shimmery bronze brown.

The eye shadows come in a large jar, 1.5 grams of product. A sifter is included, which is taped. I love how easy they are to work with, great pigment and a great range of colours to choose from.
The lip tints are such a moisturising formula with an added tingle, thanks to the peppermint essence. As seen in the photo, they are packaged in a typical wind up lip balm tube. I love how pigmented the lip tints are.

For this look I used Strobelight on the lid with Blitzkrieg under brows.

Australia Day Nails

With Australia Day approaching, I wanted to try a fun, yet simple nail look. I had so many ideas, but finally decided on this design

This is what I used:

I began with my much loved Orly Bonder. Never being one to find this step important, I now find this base coat invaluable to the longevity of my nail polish. I am rough on my nails. The saying "Nails are not tools" certainly doesn't apply to me! :/  The sticky base seems to bond the polish to my nails. I have tried Creative Sitcky Base, but Orly Bonder works so much better for me!
I don't have many green nail polishes, especially a brighter green, it's just not a colour that I feel the need to reach for. Just as I was about to settle with a dark green, I stumbled across Sally Hansen Xtreme Hard Wear Nails in Ivy League. I don't actually remember purchasing this polish, but I'm so glad that I did :)
Next was the yellow star design. I have had some cheap nail art polishes that I purchased from ebay a long time ago. I thought my collection needed them, yet this is the first time I've used one. I just wasn't confident enough trying to paint a design. I don't have the most co ordinated hand, lol. This was so easy, just simple strokes. The only problem I came across was that the built in brush shedded badly. I might invest in some decent nail brushes.
The designs were fine on their own, but I decided to add a piece of glitter to the centre of each design.
Although I was quite content with my nails at this stage, I thought a shimmery polish over the top would just add to this look. That's when I reached for NYC nail polish in Angel. These nail polishes are quite decent for the cheap price point.
Now that a base coat is a must have, top coat has also become an important step in my nail routine. I have opted for Seche Vite, it certainly lives up to the hype. Seals the nails with a glossy finish, whilst drying super fast, a definite advantage!

I hope you liked my simple nail tutorial :)

Opulent Alchemy

Whenever curiosity gets the better of me when it comes to regular store bought perfumes, I head to Etsy store, Opulent Alchemy. This online store offers a huge collection of perfume oil dupes, ranging from celebrity to designer perfumes, and even cult classics. This is my second order from Opulent Alchemy, and I doubt that it will be my last.

I love the cute packaging. The perfume oils come in roller ball bottles, which are so easy for application, and least messy.

I used the perfume descriptions from Opulent Alchemy's blog. I cannot compare to the originals, as I have not sniffed any of the originals of the dupes that I bought.

Michael Kors: *Tuberose reinvented. Creamy florals explode into exotic spices, tamed by smokey Moroccan incense. A fragrant creation with a wealth of personality that will capture the heart of every woman. Fragrance Notes of Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti provide a voluptuous finish. Sophisticated & sensual, warm & wearable.
Dark sweet florals. Heady, intoxicating, dark and has a "dirtiness" that just makes this one sexy. Feminine. I may not have been overly descriptive, but I love this fragrance, even better, it lasts and lasts!

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession: *Calvin klein knows sexy and secret obsession is an intense floral/oriental fragrance that is sultry and addictive. Between love and madness is the secret of this intoxicating scent, with its complex blend of exotic plum, mace, rose de damas, egyptian jasmine, french orange flower, spicy orchid, ylang, tuberose, moroccan cedarwood, wormwood, cashmere woods, burnt amber, madagascan vanilla, australian sandalwood, florentine orris root.
A beautiful bouquet of sparkling florals. Sweet and slightly spicy. This fragrance is alluring and sexy. It is soft after wear, it just seems to linger in the background beautifully.

Vanilla Cannelle: *An exotic blend of cinnamon, ginger, brown sugar, & vanilla pod.
This one is rich gooey caramel. I would love to have more to add, but had to say bye to this decadent fragrance because unfortunately it gave me a headache :(

Vintage No 23: I can't seem to find a description on this one, and woudn't even begin to guess what notes are in it. What I can tell you, is that this fragrance is rich, very sweet, slightly woodsy and a touch of spicy. It isn't at all heavy, noticeable, yet not overbearing. Quite a lovely feminine perfume.

Love Potion No. 2: *
This fragrance is extremely sweet and slightly musky. It leans on the side of icky sweet vanilla, almost that fake vanilla scent. It does soften to a fun, girly scent. Quite a simple perfume.

Paris Hilton Siren: *A creamy floral fragrance for women. Luxurious, exotic frangipani flowers, subtly sweet essence of apricot nectar day-blooming & honeysuckle surround the bouquet of rainforest orchids & budding water lily at siren’s heart. Bright base notes of sandalwood, vanilla beans & creamy musk evoke tropical breezes on sun-warmed skin.
Fruity, sweet and floral. I find that once it warms on the skin, it develops a slight smokiness that adds a sultry element. Beautifully feminine, a perfect summer scent.

The Exact Friction of Stars: *Incredibly yummy. Imagine lounging on satin sheets, being fed ice cream, licking whipped cream off of your fingers as you watch the sun set over the ocean. All of this with a very special and devilishly attractive someone, of course. A warm and luscious vanilla-based scent -- as rich as creme brulee, as craving-inducing as coconut cream pie. Delicious and so, so sexy. Indulge yourself.
This is quite a simple fragrance. Rich, warm and sweet. Like a mix of coconut and chocolate. Lasts quite some time. It would make a perfect layering scent.

STICKY CAKE: *This is an oriental fragrance for women & men with rich sweet & nutty notes. A beautiful gourmand fragrance with great complexity. Fragrance notes include almond, honey, dates & pistachio; heart notes are iris with a milk & brown sugar fusion… with base notes of ambrette seed, cereal notes, myrhh, sugar & milk.
Creamy, decadent, rich and so so sweet. It is too delicious, but unfortunately has no lasting power on my skin.

Rose The One Perfume: * Is a floral fragrance for women is the third in the series of special fragrances. Seductive & intoxicating notes include; black currant, pink grapefruit, mandarin, lily of the valley, rose, litchi, peony, madonna lily, ambrette seed, sandalwood, musk & vanilla.
This is a heady perfume. I really loved the sweet, intoxicating florals. Unfortunately it gives me a headache. Should be tried by floral lovers!

VANILLE BOURBON: * Vanilla lovers, it’s time to rejoice! Two types of orchid are used to bring to mind an intense, sweet, rich vanilla fragrance, anchored with the delicious scents of heliotrope, exotic tiare and warm amber. This is an instant smile and an easy laugh…it’s soft vanilla joy in a bottle. Easygoing yet totally addictive (we mean it—we crawled over two tables one day to find exactly what gorgeous vanilla was enticing us so!), this is the finest bourbon vanilla we’ve ever laid our noses on. Did I say addictive? Vanille Bourbon has left us with a loss for words, so I’ll just say, “WOW!” Fragrance notes include cedar flowers, orchids (bourbon and yellow), heliotrope, tiare, rose wood.
Rich florals, combined with warm vanilla and boozy bourbon. The florals are subtle, but add another dimension to this vanilla based scent. It's a fragrance that stays quite close to my skin. Nice.

To Repurchase or not to Repurchase- Elucent Serum.

I was given the opportunity to trial the Elucent range, thanks to Vibe Village. I had never heard of this brand before, but I have heard of the Australian company Ego, a well known brand that Elucent had been developed.

This anti-ageing serum contains goodies such as, Vitamins B3, C and E. The active component of AHAs provides an effective chemical exfoliant. This aids to rid skin of dead cells, which cause such ageing effects like wrinkles.
The concentration of AHA is 16 %, so a patch test is recommended, especially so for those with sensitive skin.
The serum comes in a 30ml tube. Product is easily dispensed through a small nozzle, ensuring better control of this transparent gel  formula. A little goes a long way.
Being a gel formula, it glides easily over the skin. I did find my skin felt a little tacky after initial application. However, after a short period of time, my skin absorbed the product, leaving my face and neck feeling soft and silky smooth. I was also surprised at how hydrated my skin was after using a gel product.
After using a tube, the only adverse reaction was a slight tingling. This was only because I had naughtily picked at blemishes.
This product gave my often dull skin more of a youthful glow, thanks to the exfoliating properties. The hydration was a welcome bonus.
Would I use again?? When I feel I could do with an AHA treatment, I would certainly reach for the budget friendly Elucent Serum :)
