Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

Image
I often get so caught up in rave reviews about beauty products, especially when I'm not paying too much. Team that with online bargain sites, and I often fall into temptation. I'm sure you're with me here :) Bourjois Healthy Mix was a foundation that I'd been wanting to try for some time. This is the original formula, and I'm interested in trying Healthy Mix Serum version. The product has many claims, including 16 hour wear. Containing apricot, melon, apple and ginger, it has been formulated to be good for your skin. Giving radiance, hydration and antioxidants.  The foundation comes in an airless pump-top plastic bottle. I love that I can see how much I have used. The consistency is typical of a liquid foundation. I ordered shade 53, and thankfully it was a perfect match for my skin. I notice a slight fruity scent to this product, which quickly disappears.  I found application easy, as the foundation just glided over my skin, giving me an eve...

SOTD- BPAL Paramatman

Image
BPAL  was the online company that got me hooked on indie perfume oils. Let's just say, that I now have that addiction under control...somewhat. Paramatman contains notes of orange blossom, East Indian sandalwood and champaca.   When I first apply this golden perfume oil, I get a smoky green woodsy scent. It is rather strong, yet upon drydown, it becomes to soften. This is where the zesty, almost bitter orange becomes more noticeable, along with the creamy floral of champaca. To me, after wear, this blend reminds me of smoky, spicy and sweet rose, yet there is no rose in this perfume.  This is definitely a fragrance for the cooler months, as it is quite deep, dark and rich with an air of mystery. Not quite a full size must have for me, but, wow is this blend complex. Have you delved into the world of indie perfume oils?

Stamped Nails

Image
After my sister gifted me Sally Hansen Diamond Strength "Save The Date", a lovely rich wine nail colour, I just couldn't wait to get it on my nails. Of course, I wanted to have a play, without detracting from the base polish. I decided on some stamping. To stamp over this gorgeous colour, I used Maybelline Color Show "Porcelain Party", a decent white for stamping. I really like how well this design enhanced my nails with the diamond pattern, yet the deep colour was still a feature.

Ponds Flawless White BB Cream

Image
When I had discovered that Ponds had released 2 BB creams, my next trip to Priceline I headed straight to the Ponds display. Sadly, the product was only available in light, which was obviously not going to work with my skin tone. It was only a matter of time before a medium option (Beige) was available. I was so happy to get my hands on a tube. My next problem was choosing which range, Flawless White or Age Miracle. Both were appropriate for my skin concerns, but what I hate most is pigmentation, so opted for Flawless White. Containing Spf 15, this product claims to hide blemishes and repair damaged skin. Ingredients have been added to regulate genes that control melanin production and brighten the skin. The screw top tube has a lid that is quite solid and is squared off, which allows you to store it standing up. This means that it doesn't take as much effort to squeeze product out because the cream will be at the opening side of the tube. There is a nozzle under the li...

SOTD- Jean Patou "Sira Des Indes"

Image
I am so happy that after being unwell for sometime, I have finally got my sense of smell back. It was terrible not being able to smell any beautiful fragrances. Sira des Indes is another sample given to me by my daughter who wasn't keen on the perfume that she had ordered from My Perfume Samples . Described as "Oriental woody fragrance for women. Top notes are banana, pear, bergamot, cardamon and pink pepper. Middle notes are champaca, orange blossom, plum and milk, Base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk and vanilla." When I first applied this perfume, it had a pungent note about it. I couldn't pinpoint what it was, but I wasn't a fan. Thankfully, this quickly disappeared as it softened to a very creamy, powdery fragrance. The banana and pear are noticeable but are not too prominent, blending softly. I find that the perfume is quite close to the skin.  I was quite surprised that being an oriental that it is so subtle. Sira des Indes is nice, not ...

Models Prefer Energy Lift Primer

Image
Most foundation users know just how important using a primer is. It provides a smooth canvas for makeup application and ensures longer lasting foundation. Finding the right primer for you can be a lot of trial and error. Some time ago, Priceline brand Models Prefer Energy Lift Primer was on sale, so I was quick to grab one for myself. Not only has it been formulated to make foundation last longer, but also includes ingredients that are anti ageing  and hydrate the skin. The primer is packaged in a matte finish bottle. I really like the simple look The pump-top dispenser is mess free and easy to use. The primer has a gel like consistency. This means that it glides over the skin, giving the needed hydration for a smoother foundation application.  I really like how the primer fills in fine lines, preventing foundation from settling, which can make lines look even deeper. As a primer, it performs very well. I did find that my makeup lasted longer, ...
