May Empties

I don't mean to state the obvious here, but we're half-way through the year! Where has the other half gone??? The worst part of it, is that it is now Winter, ugh! Anyway, you came for the empties, so here's what I finished in May.

As usual, most the products I finished are skincare, but I also finished some makeup items. Both of my decluttering series means I also am getting rid of lipsticks and nail polishes.

Nivea Micellar Water- I used this product on a cotton pad in the morning instead of cleanser. I had no problem, but have since read that micellar water should be rinsed from the skin, so I will be going back to my regular Simple Toner in my morning skincare routine.
Repurchase? This is not a product that I need, so most likely not.

Beauty By Nicholas Plump It Up- This is a very light weight cream that I used before a moisturiser like a serum. As the name suggests, it has been formulated to plump the skin, reducing the look of fine lines.
Repurchase? I liked this product, and although I did see initial plumping out of my lines, it seemed to plateau over the course of me using this product, and I saw no more changes. I can't see myself buying this product again.

Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF- This is a mineral sunscreen with an SPF rating of 50+. I loved that this sunscreen is a lotion that isn't greasy and doesn't leave a white cast. I just wish it came in a larger size.
Repurchase? I wouldn't rule out buying this sunscreen again in future, I just wish I didn't have to buy it online. If only Australia offered better physical sunscreens so that I didn't have to source them overseas.

The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension in Silicone- This cream has a whopping concentrate of 30% Vitamin C. This silicone version was introduced as an alternative to another that a lot of people found gritty and not easy to use.
Repurchase? I did not like using this product, so I won't be repurchasing. I found the thick silicone formula difficult, I had to pat it on, or else it just became flaky and gross. Nope.

Swisse Rose Hip Facial Moisturiser- This is a decent moisturiser and I love that it contains rosehip oil.
Repurchase? Maybe in Summer, I'm finding that it is not quite moisturising enough for me now that the weather has cooled.

Skinn Sugar Lip Scrub- This is quite a coarse sugar scrub to exfoliate the lips, which I like for my chapped lips. I also like that the sugar is in a hydrating base.
Repurchase? A tub lasts for so long, and I have other back ups, so need to replace for a very long time.

Oblepikha Siberica Hand Cream- A rich moisturising hand cream that smells sweet, fruity and delicious.
Repurchase? After finishing this travel size, I would buy a full size. It was so nourishing on my hands.

Olay Total Effects Day Cream for Normal Skin- This is a moisturiser that contains SPF 15+. That is too a low of a SPF factor for me, so I just applied my regular sunscreen over the top. Apart from the soapy fragrance, I was pleasantly surprised by this moisturiser. My skin felt so soft and hydrated throughout the day.
Repurchase? I believe the Gentle version is fragrance free, I would actually consider buying a full size of that one in future.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless- I really like this medium to full coverage foundation. My only gripe is that there's no pump, really annoying!
Repurchase? Maybe. There's always a new foundation that I want to try, so I rarely repurchase the same one.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara- I enjoyed using this mascara. It lengthened my lashes and gave them volume. Nice and black, which I like in a mascara. I like the wand, too.
Repurchase? Just like with foundation, I prefer to try different mascaras. We'll see.

DB Cosmetics CC Concealer- A light weight concealer that comes in a wind-up tube with brush applicator, which I wasn't overly keen on. I didn't really like this as a concealer for under my eyes because it just didn't blend easily, became a little patchy. I used it instead on my lids as a primer.
Repurchase? No, I'm not a fan.

Hair Repair Oil- I usually forget to put hair products in my empties posts. My hair routine is pretty simple and not an obsession for me. I bought this oil from discount website Ozsale. I used it between washes to tame my fly-away hair.
Repurchase? I really liked the oil, but not enough to try and seek it out.

...and the products that I am decluttering.

  1. The Maybelline foundation really needs a pump. I would be so happy. You went through alot of products, great job finishing them.

    1. One of my pet peeves is foundations without pumps, I'm happy to pay a few extra dollars for the "luxury".

  2. For the month of May all my empties were skincare except for 1 bottle of perfume. My total of used products for the year so far is 38. Im thinking I need to lift my game.
You did well...I always feel amazing when i complete a bottle of Micellar as they last for ages. Im using the Natio Micellar at the moment which is lovely.

  3. I didn’t realise the fit me range didn’t have a pump. Maybe repurpose one from a different foundation? I have me ol faithful foundation but I also like to try different ones.

    1. Di, I was so surprised at just how much I enjoyed the Olay moisturiser, it's not a product I would have bought, but I loved it!
