Mirenesse Studio Magic BB Pore Powder

I received Mirenesse Studio Magic BB Pore Powder through the VIP program when I was a member. It was a product that sounded wonderful, and I was looking forward to using it. Of course, at the time I was determined to get through some other finishing powders that I had before diving into this one.

Taken from the Mirenesse website- "...This super-sheer powder is completely undetectable on the skin and seals foundation, concealers or even just primers to create porcelain looking skin. Created with revolutionary Light SetTM Technology to diffuse both artificial and natural light, skin will be left lineless, poreless and flawless in any light, making it ideal for both everyday wear and special occasions and even photographic work.
Moisturising Vitamin E and soothing BB mineral pigments work together to calm and rejuvenate red or blemished skin, while natural silica works to absorb excess oils, restoring the skin's natural moisture balance and instantly minimize pores and fine lines."

The 5.5g of product comes in a jar complete with sifter and powder puff. The cute packaging didn't disappoint.

The powder is very finely milled. Like talcum powder to the touch.

I opted for a brush to apply the BB powder, rather than the included powder puff, just my personal preference.

The first thing I noticed was the smell. It's not offensive in any way, but the fragrance is just wrong to me for some reason. Thankfully, it disappears after application.

Another thing to note is just how easy it is to overload the brush because it's a loose powder rather than pressed. I've used loose powders for some times, and still found that I had to be careful to make sure to tap any excess off the brush, I didn't want any Nicole Kidman white powder mishaps!

Now to the good parts. I love the way that this powder blurs my imperfections to give a photoshopped finish. However, it doesn't leave my face looking flat or washed out. The powder doesn't add colour, so allows the foundation's true shade to remain.

What really impressed me is the longevity. It really helps to maintain the look of my foundation throughout wear, without touch ups and no patchiness.

Thanks to its mattifying properties I don't experience the foundation sliding around on my oily forehead. Yet it doesn't feel like it is drying on my face, either.

It doesn't cake, or settle into lines, which with my under eye area, this is a very important point for me!

I really do like this BB Pore Powder, it's just that scent, ugh!

What is a product that you've liked, but been put off by the smell?

  3. Sounds like a great finishing powder, but I'm a bit nervous about its scent. I'll have to sniff it at the shops before considering purchasing it I think!

Thanks for linking up to the Monday Makeup Madness link up party :)

    1. If it wasn't for the smell (and expensive retail price) this powder would be perfect!

  4. Indie darling I'm so glad it's not just me - I can't BEAR the smell of this stuff. Love what it does for my face though - I went back to my Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder because it doesn't smell like anything. I also can't stand the smell of Hope in a Jar - weird huh?

    1. It's so weird, because it's not a disgusting, horrid smell, but something about it makes me dislike it a lot. I, too, am glad I am not the only one! I haven't tried Hope in a Jar, but I am not a fan of their perfumes, not because they smell terrible, they just make me headache-y for some reason
      xx

  5. Yes I think we've all had experiences with some weird scented products! I used some new Schwartzkopf shampoo and conditioner a few years ago which I trialled on BH and although the formulation was awesome, the scent was really unusual unlike anything I've tried before, it was like caramel plastic or something....haha anyway! This sounds pretty great tho! :)

    1. Caramel plastic how interesting, and totally unappealing, lol. I like to use hair products that I like the smell of, it just makes me feel good when having my shower.

  6. I wish mirenesse wouldnt add fragrance to their cosmetics! I love their products but the scent just doesnt agree with me :( Great review, as always!

    1. I agree, Christina. I would class Mirenesse as high end (well, there retail prices are!) you think they could make their products smell good. Or fragrance free, which I much prefer.
