August Empties 2017

Image
Another month another empties post. You guys know the drill.  This past month I seem to be decluttering much more than I finished. I'll begin with these Alpha H travel sized products. Triple Action Cleanser- A gel cleanser that works to balance skin without drying it out. Repurchase? A great cleanser, but I now prefer cream cleansers. This one would have been fantastic when I was in my teens/early twenties. Micro Cleanse Super Scrub- A scrub formulated to exfoliate skin both chemically and physically. This is such a gentle exfoliator, the jojoba beads have no sharp edges, so they just glide over the skin as you massage over the skin. Repurchase? I prefer a more abrasive scrub to get rid of all those dead skin cells. Balancing and Pore Refining Mask- A clay mask that deep cleanses pores, whilst having properties that also soothe skin. Repurchase? A decent mask, but with my current stockpile of facial masks, I really am not in the market for another. ...

Moreish Euphoria Cream Cleanser

Image
I have had the Moreish Euphoria Cream Cleanser for some time now, just sitting there waiting to be used. Well I finally finished my stash of cleansers to get to this one, something I have been looking forward to trying. Taken from Moreish - "To gently smooth, cleanse and soften all skin types, including sensitive skin. A rich creamy cleanser that removes makeup and impurities, leaving the skin soft and balanced." The cleanser comes in a large 200 ml bottle with an easy to use pump-top dispenser. The cleanser is a light creamy consistency.  It has a lovely sweet scent that to my nose smells like a fruity honey mix. So nice! This product is full of gorgeous ingredients such as argan, aloe vera, almond oil and manuka honey just to name a few. The cream cleanser is so lovely to use. It is gentle, yet effective at cleansing the skin. Not only does it clean  well, being a cream means that it won't strip the skin.  It really does leave my face feeling soft and ...

Simply Nails #5

Image
I really do like to create a lot of purple nail looks and today I have yet another one to show you. What can I say? I love purple! I started with Australis Nail Colour in #bethatgirl for my base colour. I then used a fine brush to paint small stripes of the frosted blue polish You Blew Me Away from FOA. That's it, so easy! Thanks for reading! xx

30 Beauty Questions Tag

Image
It's been a long time since I completed any kind of blogger Tag. After a quick search on google I come across the 30 Beauty Questions Tag. 1. Do you remember your first makeup item? I'm pretty sure it was some Mary Kay makeup I bought at a friend's makeup party. Eye shadow and foundation. 2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications? I really like tubing mascaras. My favourite would be the Poni Cosmetics White Knight mascara. No smudging and provides both length and volume. 3.What kind of coverage to you prefer from foundation? I like a full coverage velvety finish. However, since hitting my 40s, I'm starting to find that it can settle into fine lines and and has the potential of looking cakey. I'm thinking that BB cream now looks best on my skin. 4. Favourite high end brand? Probably Urban Decay. Though I've only ever tried their eye shadow palettes. 5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try b...

Alpha H Travel Sized Pack

Image
I recently had a very nice surprise in the mail. TVSN sent me some goodies, including a travel sized skincare set from Alpha H. There are 4 products that came in a cute little mesh bag. Instead of reviewing all of the products in separate blog posts, I thought I would quickly run through each product in the one post. I'll start with the Triple Action Cleaner. This is a gel cleanser formulated with cucumber, aloe vera and thyme. A mix of antibacterial, yet hydrating ingredients to balance oily skin. I don't really suffer oily skin, but I found this cleanser was gentle enough on my combination skin. Not stripping my drier areas, whilst removing excess oil from my t-zone. I have been trying to avoid gel cleansers, but this 1 is nice to use in the mornings. The Micro Cleanse Super Scrub contains not only 12% Glycolic Acid, but additional Jojoba beads to add to that exfoliation experience. Both chemical and physical exfoliants working to rid your skin of unwanted de...

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2

Image
Back in February I showed you the original Foil Eyes palette. I really love the palette and when the Foil Eyes 2 palette was released I had to have it! Of course, now there's a Tropicana version which I'm sure I'll end up buying also. Taken from BH Cosmetics- "This must-have second edition features more vivid jewel tones, richer neutrals and more icy options- all with the same buttery feel and molten metal finish." This palette gives me another collection of 28 gorgeous metallic shades. I love vibrant pops of colour for lids, especially foiled and this palette certainly provides that. I'll go right ahead and show you some swatches. I must say that the 4th row is not my favourite, not because of poor quality, but I'm not a fan of silvers and greys. The rest, however. I love!  Look 1  Look 2  Look 3 Look 4 As you can imagine, so many more looks could be create...

Wishlist 2017 #1

Image
I can't believe this will be my first wishlist post for 2017. Oh well, better late than never, right? No surprise, I am lusting after a few eye shadow palettes. Photo credit- Morphe Since the sneak peeks of the Morphe Jaclyn Hill Palette were being released I knew I had to have it. Then when it was available for sale, I promptly went to the Morphe website to buy it and quickly changed my mind when postage was going to be $62 US. No way was I paying that. Fingers crossed Beauty Bay will end up selling this palette. Photo credit- ColourPop Cosmetics Photo credit- ColourPop Cosmetics The ColourPop Yes Please and Fem Rosa eye shadow palettes I've been wanting for so long now, but every time I go to buy them, 1 or both of them is sold out. I don't want to have to make 2 separate purchases for them, but it's getting frustrating. Photo credit-Deciem The Ordinary has such a huge following, and it's no wonder with the products not only having ...

Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil

Image
I bought this Simple Hydrating Cleansing oil, actually 3 of them during a sale that Chemist Warehouse was having some time ago. Now I had been content using a mix of coconut and olive oil as a makeup remover, but I'd read such good things about this cleansing oil and I really wanted to try it for myself. Of course a 50% off sale at Chemist Warehouse at an already affordable price had me quick to order. Taken from Simple Skincare - "...our rinse off cleansing oil is made with 100%  pure grapeseed oil, which is light in texture and infused with skin loving ingredients such as vitamins A and E that leaves all skin types thoroughly cleansed, instantly hydrated and soft." The cleansing oil comes in a 125 ml plastic bottle with flip-top lid dispenser. I love the green theme on the packaging. The oil has a fresh slightly herbal scent. Being mostly grapeseed oil, this product is an oil of thin consistency. To apply, I simply massage a small amount into my skin, addi...

Makeup Look Featuring ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip in Hack

Image
If you read the post on my lipstick collection , you would notice that of all the lip products I own, lip glosses are a minority. I prefer a longer lasting lip product. However, out of curiosity I decided to try the ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip. Today I will be showing you the shade Hack, which is from the Amanda Steele collaboration. The lip gloss come in a typical gloss tube complete with doe foot applicator. The formula is really nice to wear on the lips. It's not sticky or tacky, but feels smooth and moisturising. Wear time is fairly average, but that was to be expected. The shade of Hack is a sheer peachy nude with golden shimmer. It's such a lovely colour that I find quite flattering on the lips.. For a product that I don't often reach for, I really like the ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lips .

Pan That Palette Update #3

Image
I feel like I have been trying to finish this palette forever, probably because it has been that long, lol. I wouldn't say I am disheartened about still trying to be done with the 88 Warm palette, but it would be nice to play with some other eye shadows that have no other purpose for months now but to sit collecting dust. It actually does sound like I'm disheartened, doesn't it? lol Ok, so last update I had finished 5 eye shadows and had 4 eye shadows that I had hit pan on. Unfortunately I have only finished 1 eye shadow since June. Although that is disappointing, I have a couple more eye shadows that I am very close to finishing.  I am now left with 32 eye shadows to go. Thankfully, there's still some nice lid shades to choose from, it just takes longer to get through them. Here's to a better result next update!

Optically Glasses

Image
When Optically  Australia approached me to promote their online company, at first I was hesitant to accept. I was very grateful for being considered, but prescription glasses is not a subject that I've ever blogged about. On further consideration, I decided that their service and product might interest some of my Aussie glasses wearing readers. I am required to wear prescription glasses for reading. Just because they're necessary, it doesn't mean they can't look good, too. Being able to order glasses online  is so convenient. You simply choose a frame of your liking, and send a copy of your prescription (I photographed my prescription on my phone, then sent it in an email). There are so many designs to choose from, starting from as low as $19 to the prestigious designer glasses . You can even get your hands on prescription sunglasses . No need to be concerned whether the frame will suit. Optically has cleverly included a function on their website where you ca...
