Beauty Favourites of 2017

The reason I didn't write a monthly Beauty Favourites post in 2017 was because I spent much of it trying to finish set products in my project pans. I see the value in panning, but it meant that I didn't try many new products.

I do have a handful of faves that although not new in 2017 were new to me, so I thought I would rave about them to you.

Skin79 Water Wrapping Sunscreen- This is the best physical sunscreen I have used, ever. It is so easy to apply. There is no greasiness and no white cast, once absorbed, my skin is dry to the touch. I love that it's not thick and doesn't feel like I'm wearing a mask, yet it is hydrating. It's amazing, unfortunately it can be difficult to find.

Australis Fresh and Flawless Powder- I am always late to the party, but last year (that is so weird to say!) I fell in love with this powder. It is so soft and creamy. Gives me that airbrushed look without being cakey. This finishing powder sets my foundation and makes my makeup last all day. I have 3 back-ups of this powder, that's how much I love it! My only gripe is the shade range isn't so great. Now that it's Summer, I could go with a darker powder, but the next one is just too dark for me.

AOA Pink Wonder Sponge- This favourite beauty item for 2017 was a huge surprise. It is soft and spongey. I haven't used the Beauty Blender, but I have and enjoy using the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge and this one is softer and bouncier. I had to buy the sponge cup to go with it, which is so handy. Want to know the best part? I bought it from Shop Miss A for US$1, crazy right? I recently ordered 3 more, because at that price, why not!

The Ordinary "Buffet" Serum- I have only been using this serum for a few weeks, but I've fallen in love with it. There's so many peptides packed into this little bottle for such a low price point. I am so happy with what it's been doing for my skin. At 43, I need all the help I can get and to have a more radiant skintone is very much appreciated!

Maybelline FitMe Concealer- Yeah I know! This concealer has been out for some time now, but I only decided to give it a try this year. I can see why so many people love it. It's creamy and easy to apply and does its best to lessen the look of my dark circles. I do have to set it so the concealer doesn't crease and settle into my fine lines, but I tend to do that with any concealer, anyway, so it's not a problem for me. I have tried a couple of other concealers this year and none of them were as good as this FitMe Concealer.

Simple Oil Cleanser- It's probably no surprise that this oil cleanser is one of my favourite products of 2017.  I'm sure I don't need to go on and on. This oil cleanser is lightweight, removes my makeup, whilst itself is easy to remove. Also budget friendly.

ELF Mad About Matte Eye Shadow Palette- This matte palette is amazing. The shadows are a little powdery, but that's ok because they are so easy to blend and have pretty good pigmentation for such an inexpensive palette. I find the colour range is prefect for eye contouring.

Ok, so now I have proven with these 2017 favourites that I'm a tight-arse. Lol. What can I say? I love a good bargain! :)

What was your favourite product of 2017?

  1. Oh I love how affordable the sponge is! :) It's nice when you find budget friendly products that quickly become favourites - usefulness is always more important than price but it's good when you don't have to spend a lot for it! :)

Happy new year! Hope that 2018 is off to an amazing start for you, and you had a wonderful Christmas time.

    1. That sponge is amazing, not at all what I expected for that price point. I agree that it all comes down to the product as opposed to the price. I'm just glad that you can find some great products in an affordable price range.

I had a lovely Christmas, thank you. Happy New Year to you, too xx

  3. Some awesome sounding products there Indie! I'm always on the lookout for SOFT sponges too - some of the ones I've tried have been too compacted and hard, which means they don't absorb as much product (great!) but they're too harsh for my skin (boo!). I only use them for applying concealer under my eyes, so there's no way I want something that isn't flexible and kind ♥

    1. Thank you, Kat. Oh yes under the eyes is definitely an area you want a soft sponge. The AOA is definitely that, with enough bounce to blend well xx
