With all the warm toned palettes I own, one would think that I would not feel the need to buy more. Wrong! I don't need more, but I recently caved into an impulse buy. My hubby had gone on a trip with his motorbike mates to Tasmania, so I felt like treating myself, too. I was quick to order the Lime Crime Venus XL eye shadow palette. The packaging of this palette is gorgeous. Although this is a warm toned palette, it is based more on pinks, deep reds and purples, rather than reds, oranges and warm toned browns that I have been gravitating to (and still adore). This palette also includes some neutrals which are great to complete an eye look. I'll show you some swatches. I love how well the eye shadows swatch, especially that rich red shade of the first eye shadow in the second row, stunning! I am going back to an old palette for this Shop My Stash Palette Edition. The Kat Von D Spellbinding Palette is one that has been in my collection for years. The only use it has gotten is being swatched, so I just had to choose it to play with for a while. Can we take a moment to admire the packaging. It is so gorgeous, and yes was definitely a consideration when I bought it. Ok, after that "moment", I will show you the opened palette. Such a beautiful collection of shades that not only can be worn alone, but each pair can be mixed together to create a new shade. The eye shadows swatched nicely. Creating eye looks that I was happy with proved to be difficult. Some of the shades applied beautifully, others I could only create a patchy mess. The Makeup Revolution Soph eye shadow palette is a collaboration with YouTuber Sophdoesnails. I can't say I had heard of Soph before, but after watching a few swatch videos I had to have this palette. The packaging is quite simple with gold writing over a rubbery textured pale nude colour, I like it. The inside is far from quite simple with many pops of colour. I'll show you a pic. So many fun shades, but a neutral look can also be achieved with this palette. After using the Naked Palette for a week, I couldn't wait to be playing with colour again. The mattes were great for crease work. I wasn't keen on that last black shade, but I rarely wear black shadow anyway. Actually that 2nd last brown next to the black wasn't the best either, but I could get use out of it in the crease. The shimmers were nice, but did need a base. Which is something I use anyway. I knew it would shock you to write about yet another Makeup Revolution I Heart Makeup eye shadow palette! :P Believe it or not, though, I had considered not buying this palette. I actually didn't love the green over chocolate packaging, I know, packaging isn't that important, right? But still! I love the metallic colours, but the mint green just looked tacky and like kids makeup to me. I will say though, that it's not so bad in person. This palette has ABH Subculture vibes and we all know the bad press that palette got, I think that was another aspect of the palette that I was apprehensive about. I couldn't wait to swatch it to see what the shadows and shades were like. The shadows swatched well. It didn't really scream mint chocolate to me, but I was interested in some of the potential colour combinations I could use. I was especially wanting to use the 3rd and 4th shades in the 2nd row.
