NOTD- A Little Piece of Sunshine

Image
I must say it's been lovely to have a little sunshine among such dreary weather. It gives me a taste of great things to come......warmer weather, oh, I can't wait! I wanted a yellow base colour, so I used Sally Hansen HD "Lite", the metallic finish is what drew me to this particular shade. I then applied a couple of coats of Color Club "Twinkle Peach", such a pretty shimmery polish. To add some more depth to the nail bed area of my nail, I added just a stroke of Sephora By OPI "Don't Be Eggnog-ious". I found this to be an uplifting mani. Bright, yet warm...like sunshine :)

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- Matrix Total Results So Silver

Image
Those of you blonde girls know that a toner is important in maintaining blonde hair. I wasn't so quick on the uptake. I really disliked that before my hair was due for a highlighting touch up, my blonde would start to yellow and go brassy. Definitely not a good look. Finally, my hairdresser talked me into buying a toning shampoo. The product happened to be Matrix Total Results So Silver.  This toning shampoo has been formulated to neutralize unwanted brassy warmth. Removing yellow tones from blonde, highlighted and grey hair. The cool violet tone is what gives this product its super powers. As you can see a flip-top lid reveals the openning for dispensing product. Simple can often be best.  The product is typical of a shampoo in terms of consistency. Not sure if you see how it is set apart from a normal shampoo? Well, it's the deep violet... lol (which looks blue in these pics, but it's definitely purple)  Upon first application, I found this colour a lit

Palette Appreciation- Wet'n'Wild "Comfort Zone"

Image
Wet 'n' Wild is an affordable US brand. I actually haven't come across it in my small home town, however, after reading some great things about their eye shadows, I needed to get my hands on a palette. Thanks Ebay!  This little beauty is "Comfort Zone". The name if fitting of the neutrals available. Before this week, I had never used this palette. So unfortunate, as the shadows are so buttery soft. The downside being that they can be a little crumbly, but they are so easy to apply and blend on the lids! Look 1. I used the left side of the palette, using the shadows as marked. Look 2. I did the same as the previous look, but used the right side of the palette.  Look 3.  Look 4.  Look 5.  This is a wonderful palette for everyday looks. I can see it getting used a lot more in future :)

SOTD- Gucci "Envy Me 2"

Image
I have never tried any Gucci fragrances before. When I saw it available on My Perfume Samples, I hastily included one in my order. Gucci "Envy Me 2" is described as, "floral with a leafy opening with a touch of wood. The heart is Ottoman rose and mauve heliotrope bouquet. The base is composed of woody notes of patchouli and sandalwood, softened by vanilla." Oh yes, I definitely detected the green, leafy scent. I am not a fan of woody/herbal type fragrances, but this scent is not overpowering, and is not so obvious on drydown. That's when the florals bloom into a powdery soft, fresh note. The dirtiness of patchouli and woodiness of sandalwood ground this perfume, but only in the subtlest of ways.  I find it to be a perfume that could easily be an everyday fragrance. But, not for me. It's not a perfume that I would reach for, to be honest. Maybe it's the rose? I'm not sure, not terrible by any means, but just doesn't excite me.

Mission Accomplished- Coastal Scents Camo Quad

Image
Online store, Coastal Scents is a makeup lover's dream website. Everything you need for a full face of makeup is available for purchase, there are even products available to make your own products! My last order included the Camo Quad. I thought it would be a great item to contour with. I still don't contour.. in saying that, for some time I used no other concealing products, but this quad. The compact contains 4 shades, I chose medium, to camouflage all imperfections. The colours can be mixed to make that perfect shade for your skin colour. I can't say that I loved the plastic compact. Not a good item for travel, my lid broke fairly easily. This wasn't a huge problem for me, because I don't usually travel. The concealers are quite creamy in consistency, making them easy to apply and blend on the skin.  The white I used as a highlighter, as it was not opaque once blended. The next lightest shade, I liked to apply under makeup on and around my eye area. D

Femme Fatale Post Apocalyptic Collection

Image
Femme Fatale  is Australian indie makeup seller that I have bought from more than once because service, price and especially product has always met my expectations. When the Post Apocalyptic collection was released, I knew I just had to get my hands on some of the shadows. Well, as luck would have it, there was a special available for the entire sample set at a too-good-to-miss price. 23 beautiful shades, I was in shadow swatch heaven! Cloud Kingdom- " A soft baby blue with pink shimmer" Floating Gems- "Violet shimmer"  Burning Low- "Vibrant orange blush"   I love this colour, but think I will save it for my lids, not my cheeks :) Crystal Guardian- "Pastel blue with orange/gold shift" Lemon Sweets- " Golden yellow" Tea Partying is Hard- " A pale marshmallow pink with reddish shimmer" Hot To The Touch- "Coral blush" Perspecto Illusion- "
