It's not often that a product that you line your eyes with becomes the feature of a makeup look. Enter Evil Shades mineral eye shadow in Broken Dreidel . It's such a pretty bright blue, but I find it can be a little too much all over my lid, especially for a day look. An easy way to still wear this shadow is by lining my eyes with it. You'll see my latest usual suspects in this pic. It seems like some time since I've posted a FOTD. To be honest, I haven't really been inspired by any of my makeup looks to showcase one on my blog. Lately, I have been quite simplistic with my looks, and when I used some vibrant colour onto my lids, I thought it would be great to share with you. Face Primer- Skin 79 BB cream Foundation- Ja-De Advance Wear Foundation Finishing Powder- The All Natural Face Apricot Kisses Glow Blush- L'Oreal blush that appears to have it's label rubbed off. Now that I have hit pan on this blush, I feel compelled to keep using it. I'm glad that I like it! lol Eyes Inner lid- The highlight shade from the 6 pan palette Lid- Some Evil Shades Panic, over the burgundy shade from the 6 pan palette. I have created a couple of looks using Panic, you can see here  that it is not quite as intense on its own. Crease colour is a dark brown with green shift. What goes better with a neutral eye, than a red lip? Now I've often been one to steer clear of the world of the bright and sometimes intimidating red lipstick. I mean, I've always admired women that rock a gorgeous red lipstick, but I lacked the confidence to do anything but dabble and merely experiment with this colour.  With my collection of red lipsticks growing, I thought that it was about time that I actually start wearing it! To create this look I used: Skin79 BB cream to prime is easy my skin. Mirenesse Skin Clone Mineral foundation. This gorgeous pressed foundation is easy to apply with a kabuki brush. It evens out my skin tone without feeling heavy or chalky, and doesn't settle into fine lines. Once applied, I just use a concealer  brush to add a little more coverage to my under eye area. This FOTD features Maybelline Color Tattoo in Seashore Frosts, one of the shadows from the Summer collection. Unfortunately this collection of gorgeous mostly duo chromes are not available in Australia (surprise, surprise!) I really wanted to purchase the collection online, however, I could only find them on Ebay for a ridiculous price. I did end up finding someone who was willing to part with the shade that I lusted over most, on a US forum. I would like to seek out more, but I really need to cut back on impulse buys. Beauty Balms or Blemish Balms, best known as BB Creams have been such a craze haven't they? It's pretty clear that the Korean brands are the best BB creams by far. I haven't tried a lot of the western brands of BB cream, but the ones I have are glorified tinted moisturisers. I do like a tinted moisturiser, but BB creams are a step above in my opinion. A popular brand of BB Cream is Skin79. This company offers many different variations. The one I recently finished is Gold Label VIP Super Plus. This BB Cream comes in a 40g container. I really like the pump dispenser. You simply press the top, then the product comes out of the small narrow nozzle as shown in the picture. This is perfect, because the consistency is quite thick and a little goes a long way. I found that the product was easy to spread evenly onto the face and neck. When I first started using this cream, I was concerned that it would be too heavy, but once applied, there's no heavy feeling. I am given a...

I recently found a couple of mineral eye shadow samples that I had transferred into small jars from plastic baggies. These were from online indie company Archetype Minerals. I had a quick search online, and am not surprised that I could not find their store. The shadows are amazing, they were cheap, 50 cents a sample from memory, BUT, service was the slowest that I had ever come across. Thankfully, I received all orders (I think I placed 3), though waiting for at least 3 months was certainly not ideal! As I said, the eye shadows were truly lovely, and compared to some of the colours that I have, the two that I used were very plain, but still nice colours for day wear.  I "primed" with Skin79 BB cream, then used a light dusting of my custom EDM foundation (just a mix of finishing powders, bronzer and concealing powder). Just because it's autumn, doesn't have to mean saying goodbye to colour, or a dewy complexion. Mind you, the lovely weather lately could fool us into thinking that it was Spring, my favourite season. I love to use the Skin79 BB cream as a primer, I find that it especially works well underneath mineral powder foundation, which happens to be what I used. A custom mix of various EDM finishing powders, concealer and bronzer to deepen colour. I really like the finish, not too heavy, yet evens out the look of my pigmented skin. On my lids, I applied Persephone's Pluto Planet Power over my Silk Naturals primer. Unfortunately this company no longer operates, so I will have to make this gorgeous eye shadow last (secretly, I have a feeling that I'd have a colour like it hidden somewhere, lol). I love an excuse to do a full face of makeup, taking my time to apply (or play, lol), so when invited out for dinner for a friend's birthday, it was the perfect excuse. I don't get out much these days, lol. The products that I used for my face were: I really like Skin79 BB Cream, there are many options, but to be honest after trying this, the pink and orange version, I don't see a difference in either. In saying that, I like the coverage and finish of this BB cream. It is fine on its own in winter, but in the warmer months it is way too light for my skin colour. What I really like to use it for in summer, is a primer. I find using this product as a primer, means I don't need to conceal, well apart from under my eyes. It gives me a great base for foundation. I often use a powder mineral makeup foundation. I used a mix of Everyday Minerals Intensive tan and Sunlight Kaolin finishing powder to lighten to suit my skintone.
