Eye Shadow Collection

Image
I recently posted about my need for a low-buy . I'll start by admitting that I am an eye shadow addict. I want every colour and finish possible. How about I just show you? Eek, here goes... These are my loose mineral shadows. Cream shadows and single shadows. Now for some palettes, there is a few :/ Opened. Opened Open. Opened. Phew! That took some time taking pics! Imagine how much fun it was trying to pack it all back away, lol.

I can't believe that this is the first time I have applied one of my Pretty Serious Cosmetics polishes. I bought a few during their Black Friday sale. This fiery orange is called Generally Hazzardous . It's such a hot colour, I love how the gold shimmer peaks through the orange. This is the first of a few Pretty Serious Cosmetics NOTDs that will be coming your way :)

When Clothes Inspire a Makeup Look

Image
The lovely Kat from Kat's Colourings is the perfect example of someone who matches everything so beautifully. I'm generally not one to put too much thought into what I'm wearing when I apply my makeup. As long as I'm using colours that are not going to clash with the colour of the clothes I have on. This blouse I was wearing had such gorgeous colours that I was suddenly inspired to replicate them on my eyes. I found the perfect purple colour in my loose minerals collection, and for the blue, I didn't have to look any further than my latest go-to, the warm palette. I also used a neutral from the said palette to contour. The 6-pan MAC palette provided the colour for highlighting and contouring. I used L'Oreal Million Volume Lashes mascara, 2 coats is all I need for the desired lashes. I had fun finding the perfect purple and blue to suit my blouse. I need to do this more often. Do you like to match your makeup to your outfit?

Houston, We Have A Problem!- Olay Oil Minimizing Toner.

Image
I hate throwing out a product that I haven't given much of a chance, especially when it's over something that seems as trivial as the scent.  Olay Oil Minimizing Toner has been formulated to remove dirt excess oil and makeup. Although targeted for oily skin, having witch hazel, a well known astringent, this product also has Aloe Vera to soothe skin. Sounds pretty good, huh?   I received this toner as part of a prize pack that I had won, probably not something that I would have purchased myself. However, wanting to at least try it, I simply applied this product like most toners, after cleansing, with a cotton pad. What went wrong for me was the scent. Fragrance was added, but it just wasn't enough to mask the strong alcohol smell. Maybe I have become accustomed to natural scented products, but I actually felt ill Having this affect was not the only reason for saying goodbye to this toner. After the strong smell of alcohol, I checked the ingredients. Having alcohol li

Low-Buy

Image
I need to face the fact that I am no good at sticking with a no-buy, but with so many products in my collection, I need to do something to reign in my shopping. I thought that maybe I could try a "low-buy". Skin, hair and body products I don't usually go crazy, so they're safe. Makeup, nail polish and perfume, on the other hand are products that I find hard to resist, especially when on sale! I'm not sure how I'll go with this, but perfume and nail polish buying is out, UNLESS there's a too-good-to-miss sale. Now, I don't mean any old sale. but it has to be an almost once in a lifetime kind of sale. When it comes to makeup, I've decided that there's certain categories that only really require a product that I'm currently using and 2 back-ups. I haven't gone crazy with primers, but I really need to start using them. I believe that a primer is a must, but I generally use a BB cream underneath my foundation. I love BB creams. I ha

Thanks to a 40% off cosmetics sale at Priceline, I now have one of Sally Hansen's Satin Glam polishes to show you. I had been eyeing them off, and such at such a great deal, this was way too tempting..same old story, lol. Attempting to curb my spending on beauty related products, I allowed myself to buy just the one. Choosing wasn't easy, but I finally decided on this champagne colour, Go Gold. I really like the satin finish, whilst the shimmery touch makes it something special. All I can say is, thank goodness the sale is over! :)

Although, I really like the classic French mani, I can never get the white tips right. I've tried the sticker guides with no luck, I seem to not place the sticker on straight. I've worked on my own version, using the traditional nude and white nail polishes. For my nude base colour, I used OPI Passion. Then mostly on the tips of my nails, using the nail polish brush, I dotted MNY Color Show Porcelain Party. To create the design, I just lightly stroked a brush through the dots randomly.  This look might not be quite as elegant as a French Manicure, but I think it turned out ok, what do you think? I'd love to try this in different colour combos, too...reds and orange anyone? :D

It's not often that a product that you line your eyes with becomes the feature of a makeup look. Enter Evil Shades mineral eye shadow in Broken Dreidel . It's such a pretty bright blue, but I find it can be a little too much all over my lid, especially for a day look. An easy way to still wear this shadow is by lining my eyes with it. You'll see my latest usual suspects in this pic. Face Skin 79 BB cream to prime Coastal Scents Camo Quad in Medium to conceal under eyes, prime lids and highlight under brow Ja-De Ultimate Wear Foundation L'Oreal Blush Eyes Light shade from 6 pan palette on inner eyes, Evil Shades Broken Dreidel on lid, dark brown with green shift from 6 pan palette in crease, blended out with neutral from 88 Warm Palette L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara Lips Mirenesse Lip Liner Duet using Rose Mavala Lipstick in Nagoya Bourjois clear lipgloss, an oldie but a goodie. Unfortunately this was the last hoorah for this gloss, I'

Although this is a scary thought, if I could only choose one nail polish to wear ever (shudder!) it would have to be this one! I can not stop looking at this gorgeous hot pink colour with lilac shimmer.  Layla Softouch Effect shade 04. Isn't this textured polish divine? Well, if you're a lover of pinks, like I am, I'm sure you think she's pretty :)

Come Play With Me- Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn!

Image
The wonderful Kat from kat's colourings chose the perfect theme for this time of the year. When I think of Autumn, I imagine beautiful warm colours. Reds, browns, olive greens and golds, I just love these colours, especially when it comes to eye shadows. In an attempt not to miss out, I quickly come up with a couple of looks. Forgive me for not taking pics of what I used, I have been crazy busy lately, and just didn't have the time or energy. Face: Models Prefer BB cream in Light Ja-De foundation Coastal Scents concealer quad palette ANF Apricot finishing powder Sleek Rose Gold blush Eyes: On my lids I used the 88 Warm Palette. Now please don't ask me which shades, because I have enough trouble remembering the correct shades to go back to during application! L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara. Lips: Revlon Colour Balm Stain with a gold shimmer dabbed onto the center lip area. I also created some Autumn nails, however it didn't turn
