Pan That Palette 2017 Finale

I began the Pan That Palette project back in February of last year, but I had actually been working on the palette in the February before in 2016. I started by posting updates on Instagram. Back then I had already finished 8 pans.

Here's how the palette looked by the time I started the project on my blog. I had 49 pans to finish, having hit pan on 8.

My goal at the beginning was not to finish all the shadows, just the ones that I deemed usable and suitable for my needs. As the project progressed, I was more and more wanting the satisfaction of finishing the palette completely. Did I accomplish this? Well, keep on reading to find out :)

I was actually surprised with how long I was able to use it without getting discouraged. Though, in the beginning I would review the odd palette that I had bought, so I would change up the lid colours from time to time, but would still get some use out of the shadows, whether it be using one for a blush or even a bronzer.

It was only the last few months that I was getting really fed up with the palette. I had used quite a few of the multi-purpose mattes and just wasn't able to use as many shadows in each sitting when applying makeup.

Ok, I'll get to showing you a photo of the palette now.

Ta daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and I'm done. Well almost done. There are 4 shades left. A matte black, which I've hit major pan and 3 burgundy eye shadows, 2 of which are showing pan. Sure, I could finish them, but I'm calling it done. I'm over it and am looking for something new (or just plain different!). After going back to my intro, I actually accomplished more than planned by using a couple of the silvers even. Now, I will admit to cheating somewhat towards the end, from the advice of a friend I actually used a few of the eye shadows as nail polish by applying with a damp eye shadow sponge over base coat and then applying a top coat. I mean technically they were still used, but I did crush more shadow than I actually needed for application to my nails.

If you want to check out my Pan That Palette journey you can find that here. If I learnt anything from doing this project is that I should not buy any more palettes.......kidding! That won't happen in a hurry, but I doubt I'll ever try and pan such a big palette. This year I just want to concentrate on getting use out of more palettes as opposed to finishing one. I am considering a project that I use possibly 2 palettes per month whilst decluttering any that I am not keen on.

Now, please excuse me while I take huge satisfaction in throwing the 88 Warm Palette into the bin, if I could I'd burn it ceremoniously! Not because I hated it, it was actually decent, but I am sick of the sight of it!

  2. Haha you should definitely have a ceremonial destruction of the palette! Maybe with a hammer or something, that would be so fun. I'm so impressed that you stuck with it and used so much!

  3. WOW congratulations on finishing that palette! I too would perform some kind of ceremony that involved burning it...or just hitting it. I'm blown away that you managed to get through it all!

    1. Awww, thank you. I also have unused palettes, so am more on a mission this year to play with more of my products, rather so much on finishing (well, eye shadows anyway). Good luck with using up more products, I'm sure you'll do a fantastic job and it will be so satisfying for you xx
