SOTD- Arcana Soaps Genteel

Well, after trying just a couple of perfume oils from Arcana Soaps, I am really loving this brand. I have enjoyed each one, and am already compiling a wishlist for future purchase.

The one I am wearing today is Genteel.

Described as "Aniseed, 2 vanillas, dry amber, sugar, and cashmere musk with wisps of fine sandalwood and cedarwood"

Yes, it really sounds like a complex mix, but in reality, each note blends together beautifully. Upon application, the musk and amber are first to emerge on me. Not harsh, but kind of aftershave-like, not quite the scent that I was expecting. But, then the aniseed becomes more noticeable, but not in an overpowering way. The fragrance is smooth, creamy and sweet. The aniseed note is divine, then again, I do love the smell of this note. I really like how the slight smokiness of the woodsy notes give extra depth and richness. Mmmm, nice and warm, great for the cooler months.

I am a little on the fence as to whether or not I need a full size. I enjoy the fragrance, but is it one I want to smell on me? Normally this would mean me adding to the virtual shopping cart, but these days "on the fence" generally means that it's not a must-have, thanks to the many, almost untouched, perfumes in my stash. Eek!

    1. Oh my, Monique, where do I start??? lol. The best thing is that most online indie stores sell samples. Some of my fave sellers are BPAL, Possets (Yummmmmm, they do the best chocolate scents!) Solstice Scents, thanks to Dee, I'm loving Arcana Soaps (check out The Soapbox) Arcadian Designs (etsy) One Hand Washes The Other (etsy) Haus of Gloi. If you'd like to try perfume dupes in oil form, I'd recommend Opulent Alchemy (etsy) Hayward Enterprises. Sorry, it's been quite a while since I have ordered any, I have sooo many, I put a stop to buying more until I can start getting through some :) Let me know how you go, hun xx

  2. Genteel is a Rhinestone Housewife exclusive and the international shipping listed is that $25ish flat pack one that BPAL uses. However, RH told me she's happy to look at cheaper options for international shoppers who might just want a couple of things rather than filling one of those boxes, so if you do decide to buy make sure you email her about other shipping options first. :-)

    1. Thanks Dee! I've been trying to stay away from browsing indie perfume sellers. It's so hard when withdrawals are kicking in, lol. Many, many thanks again for your generosity xx
