Galaxy Nails

Image
I love the interwebs! If not for this handy tool, I would find it hard to come up with new ideas for my nails. This is especially so for the following creation, galaxy nails. It's not new, though, I had not tried it until now, thinking that it looked too difficult. Enter Youtube tutorials, and now I have my own Galaxy Nails. Ok, to complete this look took a few steps, but you know me, of course it was easy! After applying Orly Bonder base coat, I applied two coats of navy blue, it's Lancome, but I forgot the name. Unfortunately I had to ditch the polish because it was beginning to get gluggy, I wish I had used it more over the years, which sadly, will most likely be the story of almost all of my polishes :( The first world problem of owning too many polishes. Anyway, once my nails were completely dry, I sponged Maybelline Color Show in Porcelaine Party, Borghese purple polish and Sally Hansen HD in Digital. I only dabbed a small amount of each in random places on my nails

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- Mirenesse Foot Renew Booties

Image
Mirenesse Foot Renew Cryotherapy Booties, might be a mouthful to say, but in short are serum infused cloth booties. They are jam packed full of goodies that are formulated to soothe the feet, whilst working to hydrate this often dry part of your body. Check out this impressive list of key ingredients here . To activate, the packet needs to be placed in the freezer for 10 minutes (hence, cryotherapy) Application couldn't be any simpler, place them on your feet, and with the protective plastic outer layer, you can put your feet up on any surface. I received these in a VIP pack from Mirenesse.  I chose a hot day (which wasn't hard, lol), put the booties on and sat back on the recliner whilst watching a movie. I felt so pampered, as my dry, terribly cracked feet were being soothed in the cool, refreshing serum. The recommended time to leave the booties on is 15 minutes, but I left them on for almost an hour, I wanted to allow as much absorption of the serum into my poo

ANOTHER Gradient NOTD :P

Image
I know that the gradient has been done over and over again, but you know what? I still love it, I love seeing it, I enjoy creating it. So, here's my latest offering of a gradient based nail look. Using a simple white base colour, the Maybelline Color Show is a decent white, I then performed the gradient with some basic pastel colours. Well, except for my feature nail, which is a water decal. I much prefer these to stickers because I find that they don't lift like my experience with stickers have in the past. What do you think? Are you over the gradient, or still love it like I do? :)

Nails With Sparkle

Image
As promised, I wanted to show you another attempt at using loose glitter shadow on my nails. My first look can be seen here . I actually created this look right before Christmas, but due to a backlog, I'm only getting around to blogging about it now, oops! Wanting to incorporate the 3 remaining Mon Ennui glitter shadows into this look, I decided to use Illamasqua Viridian, a gorgeous forest green, as my base colour. I then applied a coat of Orly 54 for the glitter to adhere to. For my feature nail, I added 2 nail art studs. Gosh, I just love that green! :)

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- Dr Lewinns Refining Toner

Image
Thanks to a Gift With Purchase at Priceline, I was able to try Dr LeWinns Refining Toner. The blue toned liquid comes in a large 178ml bottle. Unscrewing the lid reveals a "stopper" with hole, so you just simply tip to pour a small amount onto a cotton pad (my choice of application method) It smells quite refreshing and herbal, thanks to the aloe vera and cucumber extract. Using this toner is a great way to finish the cleansing process. Any impurities are removed, whilst returning the skin's PH level back to normal. I love that the refining abilities of this toner are not achieved with the drying effects of alcohol. The toner is targeted at normal to dry skin tones, however I found that it worked well to remove my skin of oil on my combination type. Would I repurchase? To be honest, toner is a product I use, but it's not on my radar until I need it. I generally buy whatever is reasonably priced that fits into my skincare criteria of being gentle, yet effectiv

A'dor Beauty

Image
Well, now that my no-buy is over, I've gone a little bit crazy buying up online. One of these buying frenzies includes some goodies from A'dor Beauty , an online seller from Etsy, run by Olivia Anderson. All items are vegan, these include eye shadows, nail polish, lip products, blush and much more. Of course, I can't resist nail polish and eye shadows. However, I didn't go too overboard, I don't want to be on that dreaded no-buy again in a hurry, lol! Nidalee - Golden neutral. Lucky - Copper Virgo - Deep blue. Mermaid - Teal. OMG, I'm in love! :) Here I am wearing Mermaid on my lid. It is just so beautiful, I didn't feel the need for another colour! :) To complete this look, I used Nidalee on my inner lid, Lucky on the outer 2/3 and a little Virgo in the crease to contour.  As you can see, the shadows are well pigmented and blendable. The texture is just beautiful. Red Hottie (how

To Repurchase Or Not To Repurchase- L'Oreal Nude Magic BB Cream

Image
I love BB creams. Some days I like to forget foundation, but still want to wear something on my face that at least evens skintone. In the past, I had only tried Eastern BB Creams, which are known to be the best that you can get your hands on. I finally ventured into the world of Western BB Creams, when I needed a replacement, and didn't have the time to wait for delivery. Reluctantly, I purchased L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Cream in Light. The product comes in a tube with small nozzle that allows the cream to be squeezed through. I must admit that the novelty of the cream beginning white, but applying tinted, intrigued me enough to try it. Unlike the thick consistency of BB Creams that I have tried in the past, this product was almost a lotion. It spread easily on my skin and absorbed quickly. I had a touch dry finish, but my skin felt hydrated. It does have an SPF of 12, I would prefer something with more sun protection, but I did find that wearing in the cooler months

The Chequered Lily

Image
Being online and bored with time to kill is not a very good mix, especially for my bank balance, lol. On one of these such days, I decided to browse online website, Etsy. This is when I came across the store Chequered Lily . My browsing soon became a need to place an order, especially after I read Lily's honest blurb "If you haven't purchased from us before, here's what you should know: We believe in honesty and transparency and we want our customers to be safe and happy (and to look fabulous while doing so). We use only eye-safe products in our shadows and always include safety and ingredient information on our packaging unique to each product.  All swatches are shown against dry, bare skin. I strive for accuracy in my photos, but some colors have a dramatic shift that the camera cannot adequately capture, for this reason, I show photos of my products in varying lighting conditions (but always outdoor, natural light) and shoot video for each color (http://www.y
